Along came another ranger |
|
Ok so...same idea as the other ranger http://lld101.com/viewtopic.php?t=33414&sid=339cf8f04abaa782187b33b0f03ce2df
but....use a sorc with enchant. Would it work? My idea though is to use a cold armor of some sort, and energy shield also. Good idea maybe? Maybe also use thunderstorm? Eh, eh? Get all elements and some phys dmg in? Hows that sound? Good? Total crap?

Commit or die, if you're going to enchant you need all the points possible to make it viable and even then I doubt it will be at lvl18.
crap. How come no one responds to my insane ramblings. heh

I'm getting a max damage of 110-152 @ +137% AR at level 14 enchant (+7 skills), with maxed skills for level 24. (Points are left over assuming you hell rush: everything gets maxed.)
Add in a weapon switch for thunderstorm/eshield and teleport, and you're set... But. Let's compare to an equivalent holy fire ranger: 377-421 damage, assuming all points were dumped into holy fire/resist fire. That's without +skills.
Meh. Is tele/ES/tstorm worth the huge loss in damage? Doubtful. 'sides, you could just enchant your ranger with a charged staff... though those are only availible at 24, methinks.

There is an Enchantress build which revolves around a sorceress enchanting an Act 1 mercenary with a Raven Claw bow equipped. Then the sorceress teleports around to avoid danger (for herself or her mercenary) while the mercenary shoots exploding arrows at your enemy.
The point of putting it on your mercenary is (supposedly) that mercenary sources of damage are not subject to the 17% PvP penalty so they receive the full benefit of enchant.
Unfortunately, I don't think this is as viable at lower levels (at clvl 19, the best Enchant will give you +69-98 damage -- then with the supposed 1/3 reduction for ranged weapons, it's not going to be much).
(At clvl 30, you can get a 745-919 damage Enchant which seems much more worthwhile -- of course, the competition at level 30 is also significantly tougher than it is at 18.)

Supposedly, Enchant only adds 1/3 of the listed damage to ranged attacks (it's part of the skill description). Given some of the bugs we've seen though, I'm not sure whether this is really the case -- could someone with more knowledge confirm?

I belive spuds made a guide to this on a different website. It was a enchantress but he used a mercanry instead of using his sorc. If your planning on going to 30 Ill give you the link.

If you look at his signature you can see a small picture of his enchantress. His build didnt do too much damage at a time but it was near impossible to hit.
