According to the 101 rules, it can go into the melee category, only druid summoners are forced to be ranged.

I wouldn't, any more than I would question recasting a fireball, or reswinging a sword. Mind you, the dueling field tends to be pretty clear of enemies, so corpses would be hard to come by. But as skeletons are the "weapon" of the Summoner, why would he be restricted in their use when every other duelist can use their attack without such limitations?

The difference is: the rules state that duels should take place in a CLEARED blood moor. Of course, vs pubbies it would just piss them off more. I'm not sure as to whether thorns is worth using, but i know might or blessed aim would be useful. I agree that revives would be iffy, as you'd have to gather up a bunch of Urdars/Blunderbores for crushing blow(or frenzytaurs from WSK for insano dmg and speed vs low lvls). Mages are definitely useful for psn(the length is ridiculously high and it stops replenish). I dunno whether u'll find teleport staff that is usable at lvl 30 though...i think only sorcs can use tele charges at low lvl. However this isn't a problem....i'd use clay golem for slow....in fact a pure clay/thorns/iron maiden combo might be enough to kill/pissoff pubbies...as long as u beef up your faster run walk and u recast. They can get massive life and can slow up to 50% at maybe lvl 15. Decrep would definitely beat out amp.
Every time i try and help someone i get an idea for a build. Clay/Mastery/Thorns/Decrep. They would barely move, and you could add bonespears to whittle their life. Maybe 1 point in mages for 3 or 4 psn so they wouldn't replenish. I'm seriously doubtful about the tele staff though, i'd figure that one out b4 you go building this(if its necessary to your build)
I'd like to add that i am a self-proclaimed Necro Summoner Master. I have a lvl90ish summoner that can rape ubers with no trouble.(didn't even die or potion on my first try). I remade though so he's only ~86, but i got a godly build idea(Eth Upped Kelpie Snare + Eth Upped Hone Sundan BER BER AMN) I have eth hone, but no eth kelpie...someone help me out!!!! I use Hoto/PD Homunc, Beast/PD Homunc, MPNigma, UmShako, Arach, PDwarf(for ubers) otherwise 2x 105+mana rings(till i get sojs that i dont trade off for lld gear Smile ), Treks, Magefists, Torch, 1xSummon GC, Life SC's. I have 1313 life at lvl 86 without BO, maxed resists, 14+yard corpse explode for uber minions, 25+lvl Amp, 1point into decrep for ubers(though it might not be needed now with kelpie/clay combo. 2x psn mages instantly stop uber replenish....even without crushing blow revives, all i gotta do is stand there and collect my torch.

If you get tele charges on a staff, they're lower lvl req than on an amu or ring.

yea i might just put 1 in mages for the stop replenish thing and i'll be getting decripify of that unique necro wand umes lament i think its called, until i find something better or need the fhr from a spirit.

for raising my skellies is it possible to find a wand/head with +2 summon and +3 to skelly skills or would the monster lvl and char lvl interfere?

and i cant get glaoms from act5 becuase i'll lvl up to qiuckly

To get +2 summon +3 skeles u have to reroll with a lvl 19 char, 95% it was 19. Only way to get it, can't drop... :s

You said A +3 skele +3mastery.. wand and a tele staff on switch, problem there is that when you switch to your staff the extra skills that are used on the skeles (from the wand) are lost. So they will instantly lose hp, dmg and maybe a skele.

Edit: you would be better off finding a circ with tele charges but im pretty sure you cant get that until lvl 48 or something, thats what mine is, and its a barb circ, and its off ladder Sad .

Weaj has a 30 necro summoner (not sure if it's still equipped). He had a tele-staff on switch.

It looked like a HELLA-FUN character to play.

He and I dueled (i on my ww barb) and it was pretty fun.

Next time I see him, I'll ask if he would like to post some tips here.

They lose the extra skellies. Of this I'm 100%. If you can raise 7 on your "prebuff", then u switch back to gear that only allows you to raise 5. 2 will die instantly.

I can't answer for the mastery though, as I don't know.

yea i understood that the extra skellies die thats why i have 13 when i raise and 2 will die but the other 11 should get the prebuff bonus im hoping Confused

yea this is mainly a pubbie build, i might even put a point in bone prison so it gets a bit stronger and adds to bone armour, becuase if im using amp its gunna be hard to tele ontop of a fast moving char like a bowzon so i'll just amp, prison, tele then lay about 5 more prisons down.

p.s: good idea using necro head rhyme 2, i might get one with prison, decripify, bone spirit

edit: just found out it costs way to many points to get bone prison Sad i'll have to get it on a wand with 20% fcr or a rhyme head. edited first post a couple of times to reflect help and suggestions, thanks so far Cool

has anyone got any suggestions for my merc?

my guess is boost might aura up as much as possible so eth insight partizan + off aura circ + viper/shroud.

then i thought of a more damaging build using eth insight partizan + rattle cage + 45+ max 10% fhr crown.

any ideas? Razz
