With no shield you are gonna have a hard time with zealots and bowas and fury druids.

I would recommend trying to pick up mana off of your rings/ammys with some nice rares.

ar/stat/life/mana/res is optimal, but its not too hard to find yourself some decent ar/life/mana rings for lvl 30 or under.

The problem i had with old ww is that mana ran out to fast. would rhyme be a possibility? What about armor is that rare ornate worth the str to wear it? or should i stick with a peace mage plate? Take a few max/ar/str charms away and add some life/mana scs.
Stat distribution would also change dependent on me finding a ww helm.
What about lie anyone know what average life before and after 30 barbs have?

1500-2500 life depending on gear choices and availability of charms.

True, infact my barb has only 1550 Life at the moment because I have not had the chance to upgrade my charms... I calculated having around atleast 2k life once I can afford to and can be bothered to buy better charms.

Although, here are a few gear tips I should point out, that I use myself.
Instead of just having one gear setup, get a few.

my gear choices that I have in stash are:

Gloves-
Deaths
IK
Bloodfists

Belts-
IK
SOE
Deaths

Boots-
Sanders
Natalyas
GToes

and the reasons for using them (in no particular order):

IK Belt has nice res and the strength boosts damage aswell as allowing you to use less stat points. It's a good alternative to an expensive tri-res belt.

Natalyas boots are massively under-rated. With cold and lightning resistances (the ones you need to stack) and 40 FRW, they are very nice boots, because I think you'd most probably already have max resistances so you'd only need these when you need to stack. It allows you to have alot of FRW aswell as res. Rather than using some tri-res boots that only have 30 FRW and useless resistances that you already have enough of.

Deaths Gloves are useful against poison based chars, especially poison amazons. Combined with Deaths Belt you get an extra 15% all res aswell as CBF from the belt.

Deaths Belt doesn't need much explaining, cannot be frozen is a priceless mod, you definately need it vs any blizz sorc who knows how to play them.
Another thing is, since I use IK belt and IK belt doesn't give cold res, there is no loss of resistances when you switch belts.

IK Gloves give 20 Dex, and for this reason, I use them when I need max block. 20 stat points is alot on a barb considering they get 4 life for each point in vitality. That's 80 life. Then add BO to that 80 life and you're easily saving yourself 100 life just by making use of a cheap, easy to get item.

Sanders boots are the standard boot of most lvl 29 or 30 chars, because they give high FRW, and 15 stat points, aswell as 100 attack rating. I use these when I don't need light or cold res...although, I don't make use of the dexterity they give, because in that case it would be better to use CK Boots which give 20 dex, but that brings me onto the next item...

Goblin Toes - these give a nice amount of crushing blow which is nice vs chars with high life (such as other barbs). The problem is they have no FRW, but 99% of the time, the chars that have huge amounts of life (barbs, fury druids, etc...) wont be running from you anyway.
Although it's debatable wether it would be better to make use of CK's 20 dex, which saves you 20 stats (80 life before BO). But with fire damage, you'd be losing out because of the MDR bug.

Bloodfists don't need explaining; life and FHR, and a small amount of min damage.

String of Ears doesn't really need explaining either, the damage reduction is very nice to have vs high damage chars such as chargers and other WW Barbs. Chargers shouldn't be a problem for a barb who is using whirlwind, but unless you have a shield, chargers do hurt when they manage to catch you off guard. So it's useful to have damage reduction. It also gives you an edge vs other WW barbs if they aren't using SOE (some people use IK because of the defence from it). While they think they've got more damage due to the bonus of 20 strength, they're actually losing out because you're taking away up to 15% of their damage.

And to finish off:
I advise you to use Whitstan if you are mostly a BVC, because of the fast block speed and high rate of block, it's a very nice shield to use, even if it can only get one socket.

And also, something I'd like to point out, do you use concentrate much?
Because I find that vs some chars, concentrate is much better than whirlwind. Using conc vs zealers is great, I can finish most zealers in just two hits using concentrate where as it takes a few whirls to kill them with whirlwind. (Remember to have a shield though, and some decent IAS from gloves/belt, but I use IK gloves when I use my shield anyway so I get some from there).

That's all, I can't be bothered to write any more, hope it helps.

zzzz don't call me sSte or Sste or anything like that, it's just Ste (short for Stephen) the only reason my char is called sSte is because Ste was already taken and I didn't want some bullshit xXxStexXx sort of name
