slim to none? the odds of winning the lottery are like 1 in 10 million, and people win all the time. when you are talking about all human life these odds are very, very close.

that logic is terrible. its a 1/10million chance of YOU winning the lottery. obviously if there are like 50 million people playing the lottery the odds of 1 or more people winning are great. but this is only 1 event with a retardedly slim chance of happening, so i wont lose any sleep over it.

yeah, the odds of someone winning the lottery is a lot higher than 1/45,000.
the odds of one individual winning may be 1 in a million... but say a million people play that same lottery... someone of that million has to win it!..
think of the meteor as a lottery ticket buyer and the earth as the jackpot... it has a 1/45,000 chance of winning... for it to have the same odds as someone winning the lottery has (not an individual, but someone in general), there would have to be 45,000 meteors all with a 1/45,000 chance to hit earth
