VLLD bash barb any good? |
|
I'm new to vlld but I'm going to try to make a godly vllder. I see a lot of talk about assassins and smiters, but can other builds do just as well as them?
A bash barb seems really cool to me, but I don't want to build one if he cant compete with top assassins and paladins.

here's my little chart if you were to compare all vlld chars that are equipped with top-notch gear.
barb > asn (though not by much, if any)
asn > pally
sac pally > barb (though close)
zon > asn, barb, pally
smiter > zon, asn, barb, pally (though the asn is close)
werebear > smiter (only say this because the only char that ever beat my smiter was a werebear with life nearing 800.)
everything but smiter > werebear
necro < everything (except in team duels where he is the best partner to have.)
that's pretty much it as far as i can tell off the top of my head. if anyone wants to add something, feel free to do so.

godz zon > smiter... last time i got u to 69 life i think, and i haev a new plan to reduel.
i basicly agree with anything, but nobody is perfectly godly so theres always varients in which one of those four
zon, pally, barb, sin
and those varients could make u the best, doesn't matter, u could be the best but for a first char u r gonna need smoething basic and the best chars to go basic with are pallys and sins. becuase both have mass dmg and mass ar and dont' need so much gear to attain. which means they both can do fairly well with not so perfectly equipped gear.
but barbs can be very very good also.

Yeah B[x], I think the Zons can take the Smiter but only if we dress them up for the task. I hate to have to switch gear (rings and ammys) just to fight one particular character but I believe I have acquired the stuff I need to take down a Smiter now. By the way, your Smiter is the only Level 9 one I have ever lost to one on one. Kudos to you!
Back on subject, Bash Barbs can be very good and are one of the most fun level 9 characters to play but no one character will beat every other level 9 variant that you may meet.

well, any char can take on a smiter if they are geared properly.

haha, yeah, the only lvl 9 i've lost to is a lvl 9 werebear with mass amounts of life. his gear wasn't that good but the life was just way too much for me.

OK, I read a guide that said to go 9 bash 9 axe mastery 1 howl 1 shout. Why do you need 1 in howl this doesn't do anything in pvp. Also, could it be good to go 7 bash 9 axe mastery 4 shout and get a +3 shout help to go for high defense?
Also, what charms should I try to get? fhr/AR grand charms or 15 life large charms with second mods?
How much + AR do I need total in all of my gear/charms? |
dont make a new thread when theres one already existing. you're allowed to post more than 1 question per.
howl is a pre-req for shout. if you want shout, you need howl.
get 1200+ ar
i never use FHR charms, always full inventories of lifers. if you want to have a BP, find hte BPs for a barbm and use enough FHR charms to get it, then use lifers.
i went with 4 base shout, and got a +3 shout helm. i also wear a 250+ defence ancient plate, and hit 898 defence total when shouted with the prebuff. about 750 defence when un-prebuffed.

duh, howl is a pre req I'm dumb.
So would anyone consider going 4 shout 1 howl 6 bash 9 axe mastery for higher defense?
Also, I was considering the use of fhr/AR GCs more for the AR than the fhr, it's just the next best thing on them. If I went with 1 fhr GC along with 10 fhr boots I would reach a new bp. Same if I went with 2 instead of 1.

try out different fhr bps using just plain fhr gcs. find which bp you prefer and go with it. then find your fhr/ar gcs to replace the plain ones. just so you know, 42AR is the most you can have on a gc for level 9.

If you can find a Jawbone or Fanged helm with +3 to shout and and +3 to Axe then you will be in nice shape. They will get two sockets and if you are rich you can pop in a couple 14 maxers or some 9 maxes with 30+ Ar. The Axe mastery bonus adds nicely to your AR. Enough so that you won't miss that one socket extra you could get using a mask or crown.
(Some say you can get 3 sockets in a plus skills barb helm but I have never seen one that is level 9 or lower in 1.10 and believe me B[x] and I have looked long and hard for one.)

Can you shop for them or do you need to find them?

I have had good luck looking in normal Dark Wood, Black Marsh, Stoney Fields and Tristan for them.
Actually I have had the best luck paying people on trading forums outrageous amounts to find them for me.....lol.

when leveling, i find 2-3 jawbone/fanged caps per run in tristram. its probably the best place to look.
also, arreat summit says they should get 3 sockets. though any you find in normal, would probably be better to socket using te cube recipe, rather than wasting a socket quest on. as most of them you find in normal wont have the ilvl high enough to get 3 sockets.
if you have MH, and have the ilvl check option selected, you can see. if they are ilvl 25 or over, you should be getting 3 sockets off the socket quest.
