Report: The Druid Summoner *Works* |
|
Yarr, I've been messing around, with my level 30 Druid, putting together a little unusual char build. And as far as I can tell, nobody's really attempted this so far:
Pugna: Level 30 Druid
721 HP
343 Mana
20 Spirit Wolf
1 Grizzly
3 Spirit of Wolverine
1 Spirit of Barbs
1 Shockwave
1 Lycanthropy
+10 Summoning Skills on top of that:
Spirit Sword
Vipermagi
Sigons Shield
+2 Circlet (yes I know I need a pelt)
+2 Ammy
2x Sojs
String of Ears
Bloodfists
That lets me fit the 63% FCR breakpoint, with tons of FHR and skills.
And yeah, I know my HP is incredibly low, but I'm using 0 charms
Basically, I have 5x Spirit wolves that deal ~343 damage each. Combined with an 11 frame Shockwave, it leads to some nasty nasty stunlocking. Now obviously, this char has problems against some builds. I've found that most sorcs can easily be locked, but for example necros can simply recast bone armor against me, chargers can just namelock me, and against AOE attacks like windies and hammerdins, I have to use a grizzly instead of 5 wolves. But overall, I've actually been clearing pubs and even most LLD'ers in my path. So yeah, the 30 Summoner actually DOES work.

I should note, on switch I have an Edge bow, which combined with that level 11 spirit of barbs, makes short work of most high-level pallys that enter an LLD game. Dead useful

30 frw

Yah, but if you can leech off them, I can activate thorns/barbs, which ends that very fast. So in 90% of duels leeching isn't a problem; I just stunlock them anyway.

I saw you in game last night, he does very well with clearing pubs.
My bowa seemed to give you a few problems since I was able to outrun you though

How do you get that much damage on wolves?
According to the skills calc, you should be doing 276 per wolf.

Yeah, I remember seeing this character in a pub... Pretty effective against melee, but this build seemed weak against range characters. Most ranged characters can outrun the shockwave, not to mention the stun on shockwave is short enough to juke a stunlock.

Yarr, not much unlike a wind druid; its kinda difficult to duel some ranged chars. If I had a 75% blocking build it might be a little more effective; at the least I can summon a grizzly in your path or surround you with wolves from a distance. Might not be the best build ever, but it certainly clears pubs and holds its own against cookiecutter llds'

if melees use fhr/fbr to counter shockwave/lock by animals?
and is thorns that useful against single target hits ? (do anti summoner strategy: go after the primary, not the summons)
i thought reflect damage was pretty nerfed in pvp? read that somewhere long time ago, can someone update me on this?

Reflect damage does almost nothing on players, but on summons it does massive damage. It will actually do close to the listed amount back, when you attack a spirit wolf or grizzly.
Basically it comes down to; if they go right after me, I can stunlock them/dance around, so my wolves eat them alive. Since they are coming after me they won't be leeching life off the wolves. If they attacking the wolves first, I can thorns it so that kills them.
So it ends up with these 2 tactics switching back and forth. Against things like Zeal and Fury where it attacks adjacent targets, its alot easier; if I stand next to my bear with thorns activated, you'll always end up hitting my bear 4/5 hits, simply by having me walk out of range. And 4 hits in a row with 1000% thorns is a bit deadly.
I've noticed, however, that characters with a fair bit of DR and extremely low damage, can actually leech past 1000% thorns; I dueled a sigons barb yesterday who probably did about 100 damage a hit, but I couldn't kill him simply because he could leech off my bear more then the thorns hurt him. On a macro level, with DR negated, this would take about 60% life leech.

i love how sigons barbs always somehow seem to counter the non-cookie cutter builds, like that one person who made a thread saying he couldnt kill sigon barbs with his psy hammer sin.
