Does anyone use this shield? It seems like it could rival pelta. I'm not really sure what hit blinds target does in pvp though.

umbral would be better than pelta hands down if pelta didn't have the 40% faster block rate. yeah umbral gives 8 more dex/str and has 20 life (which translates to more life than the +10 vit the pelta gives) but if you're a slow blocker, you're dead.

The umbrella has no fast block rate. While there is a blocking cooldown time that was introduced into 1.10, dont underestimate faster block! It still effects the lenght of your blocking animation! Less time in the blocking animation means more attacking time!

Want an example to see how important this is? Make a new character, preferably Amazon, and walk out into the blood moor. Take a few hits and see how incredibly long the blocking animation takes.

if u needed to save dex u would get more milage from a nice vulpine bone shield of deflecting with 2 sockets. So, imo, there is no time when the umbrella would be the best option.

Delybrio,, did u put a blesphamas 1hand swinging weapon in that amazons hand? Laughing seriously the amazon normally blocks fast. and she can get away with less FBR because of the Uniteruptibility

SO the umbrella is a canadite to help her hit 65 dex for throwspears.

But with that much dex needed she uses a grey 3 sock shield for more dmg and still hits 75% block.

It is a viable alternative for a JabaZon. There is almost no other way that you are going to be able to use ancient armor, throwing spears and still have adequate mana and life without that dex boost Umbral gives. That is unless every jewel you have socketed in armor, helm and shield of deflection has a plus to dex mod and you are lucky enough to have Eth throwers with replenish. Umbral is much easier to get.
