Question: Will a lvl 30 Fire Trapper work?

Heya, well i have yet to see a fire trapper dueler. Is it b/c they suck so bad or there just not as good as light trappers?

Well, I wanna makea lvl 30 wake of fire girl and was wodnering if this build would work.

Helmet: +2 traps circ or peasant
Claws: 2x +2 trap claws
Armor: Vipermagi
Ammy: +2 traps
Belt: Deaths
Gloves: magefist
Rings: 2x soj
Boots: sanders i guess
+3 All skills, +9 to traps, for +12 to traps
lvl 19 wake of fire
lvl 9 fire blast
lvl 1 Mind Blast
lvl 1 Bos
Pre Reqs

That would give 244-278 fire dmg per trap according to the skill planner.

Is that decent or just not enough to do anything in lld v lld combat, not in pubbies b/c i know in pubbies, this would eat most of the lower lvls alive pretty easily

Yeah, that's really low dmg. 75% resists and even hotspurs or something would eat that up.

Lvl 30 Trapasins dont really work out too well since their dmg is soo low and it could be eazily resisted anyway

The hotspurs or nokozans would make just about anyone immune to those traps, especially lld melees with all the replenish life they can get. If you're going to use mind blast, go with faster cast over +skills. Hit whatever that fcr bp is for mind blast to lock most people in place. Then, so long as you have enough mana, who cares if the damage is low? It could make for some REALLY long duels, but I'm willing to wager they'll be amusing.

keep in mind, in order to keep them in FHR mode, you have to have you traps hitting them too.

i beleive that is how it works. there are a few topics about WoF sins, so i suggest you search them up and see what you find.

i remember in 1.09 my brother had a WoF trapper. he didn't do much damage but with MB he would own all those all those Ith's and Valors. he used to lay the trap out first then cast mb as soon as they got hit. then he would cast 1 trap everytime he cast mb 3 times (like trap, mb, mb,mb trap, etc.) it would take a while but slowly and surely his opponent would die(which makes it so much sweeter Twisted Evil ). you might get called a cheater, but chances are they will be naked when they say that and you won't be.

(keep in mind the dmg reductions)

1) 261 avg * .17(pvp penalty) = 44 pvp dmg

2) -20 MDR from something like soe and viper magi (or shround) = 24 pvp dmg

3a) 75% res to 24 = 6 pvp

3b) 85% res to 24 = 3 pvp

already well stated before... but it will be a very slow kill. this is why lighting is used... no +res item for LLD, better avg dmg and range

*anything that cant hit above 50 pvp dmg in 28-30 duels wont work.

yea, fire trapper only works for higher lvl, but not for low. Though u can always try and then duel a light trapper and find out. Smile.
Recommendation: viet's light trapper.

I think traps count as minions and get the 1/3rd PvP penalty instead of the 1/6th one. Could be wrong on this, though, but I do know in the past trap damage spikes up sharply at random from my experience with high level dueling.

they are minions, but minions also have a 17% dmg vs players
only an actual monster can do 100% its dmg to a player

also a 1/3 penalty couldnt be the explaination for a huge variation ...

traps (lighting) already have a wide range.. and there are usually multiples of them atatcking u simultanous... id say thats the start of it. but really an issue of absorbtion* mostly.. and throw in mdr as well to goof things up...

*absorbtion comes at the very end of the dmg order. allowing minor amounts to fully negate low dmg hits why just +11 absorb with 75% res would negate an infinite amount of 500 dmg hits

vs lighitng i wouldnt be surprised to see 5 streaks do nothing.. while 1 single 6k hit would knock out a chunk of life

dont be so down about it theres been a few good lld trappers so if you have the gear and time make one for yourself and decide if theyre worth having

if you hell rush it you get 9.7 pvp damage per trap... * 5 = 48.5
and fire blast gives about 23 pvp damage for a total of 71.5
i'm wondering if it would be better to put a few in mindblast though, because when trying to trap people its better to have more stun duration than fcr
then you have more time to recast wof and attack with fire blast

also does the fireblast speed rely on fcr or ias?
