I guess I'm entertaining the idea of making a kicker. I was going to aim for level 25, the same level I usually go with for war boots, but I may go up to 29 or even 30. Here's what I did for gear in the past, as best I can remember, it's been a while:

Weapon:
For the life of me I can't remember if I used a 'Steel' Cutlass (25%ias and 50% open wounds) or a 'Strength' Cutlass (25% CB +20 str +10 vit)

Armor:
At level 25 I used a 4x P ruby or 4x P amethyst gothic plate or embossed. Basically it's either life or damage here, depending on if I went mostly strength or vitality would determine what armor I used. But if I went level 29 I'd probably use Rattlecage for CB, trying to get as much CB as possible.

Helm:
Same story as the armor, either 3x P amethyst or P ruby Grand crown to keep it simple.

Shield:
GSoD or Artisan's. I always used +5 or more strength jewels in the shield, again for more easy kick damage.

Boots:
Good rare war boots, don't remember mods.

Gloves/Belt:
I'm thinking I used Death's combo or maybe Bloodfist/good + str belt, depending on IAS breakpoints and what-not.

Jewelry:
Angelics ring/ammy.

Charms:
Lots of 15 life smalls, AR charms, FHR charms to get breakpoints and stuff.

I've only ever gone level 25, but if I used upped Goblin toes, which I can't remember what level they required, Rattlecage, and a 'Strength' cutlass, I'd have 75% CB. But level 29-30 opens you up to so much more gear that I can't even think of what all I'd use.

Is a level 25 kicker considered even with a 18-21 zealer, or are they up there with the level 30 duelers? Long story short, I'm not sure if I would pursue my traditional build or go for the probably more effective higher level build. Thoughts?

even though steel offers cool mods, strength imo.

the most practical i can imagine is lvl 30

+2ma circ (or pcrown)
strength talons (cutlass is decent too but wont TS at 7 frames and is only range 1, sin claws are infact r2)
ik gloves/belt
angelics
shopped/rare war boots, w/e u can get.

either
vipermagi + rhmye
spirit shround + swordback

gem/rune/jewel depends on wealth,,, rare jewels being ideal, Prubies being next

str at 90, strength talon adds +20, then gloves/belt add alot more



for an ideal build, please search for krajee's/dtsom and others guides/writings

There's just so many possibilities with a kicker. >.<
Level 30 will probably be what I do, easier to obtain equipment with the IK's and I already have decent rare war boots. I should have thought of Swordback for the open wounds etc. Based on your suggestions I take it it's not worth pursuing a Crushing Blow build?

hmmm well i usually prefer crushing blow build and pumping str but this was with a lvl 9 ......u cant even compare lvl 9 to 30 kickers so i dont really know if a crushing blow build would be as effective.

Well as one of the Level 30 DTail assassin guides said, kickers are very versatile and I could just load up the CB gear for barbs or druids or any tank chars with tons of life.

"Load up" is a bit extreme...all you'd have to do is swap with a strength claw or something.

Also, strength pumping at lvl 9 is worthless, your damage is too low for it to be worth losing life.

hmmm well i know at 1 point my lvl 30 kicker i tried for tons of cb so my gear was cushflange , rattlecage , venomgrip, g toe and it was very hang so on pretty much every kick i was achieving cb
