Here is the gear section out of the GF necro guide im working on:
Priorities (in descending order of importance):
1. Gold Find
2. Resistances
3. + Skills
4. Life/Mana
5. Faster Run/Walk
Armors:
1. Wealth Runeword (Lem, Ko, Tir): This is really the only option. 300% extra gold, enough said. Make sure to use a base armor with low strength requirements. Defense is wholly irrelevant. I have mine in a Dusk Shroud, but it could be in a Breast Plate and I wouldn’t know the difference.
2. Goldskin (Unique Full Plate Mail): This should only be considered if you are broke to the point where you cant afford a Lem and a Ko.
Weapons:
1. Lem Lem Blade of Ali Baba (Unique Tulwar): Although this doesn’t carry us much gold find as the next option, it does provide a substantial amount of magic find. Enough to warrant its use if you ask me.
2. 6x Lem One-handed Weapon: Anything that can get 6 sockets and has a low strength requirement will work. Crystal Sword comes immediately to mind.
Hats:
1. Rare/Magic circlet with goldfind: There are many good options here. A godly rare with goldfind, skills, survival mods, and 2 sockets would be ideal, however chances are you’ll never see one of these. Magical circlets are significantly less obscure, and can get 2 sockets from teh Larzuk! Examples of what to look for include; Chromatic circlet of wealth (all res), Golemlord’s (+3 summoning) circlet of wealth, and Jeweler’s (3 sockets) circlet of wealth. Socket with Lems.
2. Tarnhelm (Unique Skull Cap): Although a nice circlet is best, this item will serve your purposes more than adequately. The extra MF is gravy, and the skill may net you another skelly. Socket with a Lem.
3. Crown of Thieves (Unique Grand Crown): Again, in the absence of a circlet this will work well. Socket with a Lem.
Shields:
1. Homunculus (Unique Hierophant Trophy): This will be the one piece of gear dedicated to non gold find modifiers. The + skills, mana, and resistances are just too much to pass up in favour of more gold find. Socket with a Lem.
2. Rhyme Runeword (Shael, Eth): If you don’t have or cannot afford a Homunculus, this will serve you well in the meanwhile. Look to make this in a necro head with useful +skills (Raise Skeleton, Skeleton Mastery, etc…)
Gloves:
1. Chance Guards (Unique Chain Gloves): 200% extra gold = the only option for this build.
Belts:
1. Rares: Your ideal belt will be a rare with 60%+ gold find and a healthy combination of resistances, life, stats and/or mana.
2. Goldwrap (Unique Heavy Belt): Rares are admittedly hard to find, and this will do just fine. Look for one with a high gold find %.
Boots:
1. Rares: Again, a nice rare will often be your ideal option. 60%+ gold find coupled with faster run/walk and resistances are what you should look for.
2. Infernostride (Unique Demonhide Boots): Depending on your fire res situation, a high GF pair o’strides may be more beneficial than a good rare. Fire is the most important resistance for a trav runner, so get a pair of these if you are short.
Rings:
1. Dwarf Star (Unique Ring): 100% gold find, fire absorb, and magic damaged reduced. There is not build that would put this ring to better use…it’s your only option.
Amulets:
1. Rares/Magicals: Any amulet with gold find will do, however, try to find one with a useful second mod/s. +3 Summoning/80 GF is a perfect magical, but a +2 necro/high GF/res/mods rare would be best.
Inventory:
1. Annihilus: Duh
2. Hellfire Torch: Duh
3. Gheed’s Fortune: 80-160% extra gold…10-15% reduced vendor prices….DUH! Try to get one as close to 160/15 as possible.
4. Assorted Gold Find Charms: Ideal are charms such as +1 summon/40GF GCs, and 15 all res/40GF GCs, however these are rather obscure and far from necessary. Any hodge-podge of gold find charms will work, but try and find yourself some with useful secondary mods, namely resistances.
On Switch:
Unless you are lucky enough to have a good amulet with teleport charges on it, there is only one option here, Naj’s Puzzler. Being able to position your army is vital for maximizing the efficiency of your runs. More on this in the strategies section.
