yea i said it. mini sac pally. ever since my post on the idea, ive been thinking and pondering the possiblities...

(you may try 4 soc gothic with a 4 mini dmg jewel/-15 reqs but goodluck finding that...)

4 soc targe shield with these mods +30 ar 20% dmg. that is the max possible mods on a clvl 5 shield.-4X 7-8 mini dmg jewels

ammy- dual stat ammy 5 str/5 dex is max

rings-either 2/2. or you can find a 60 ar 2 dex magic, or 2 str.

boots-10 fhr +3 dex rare boots

belt/gloves i recommend getting bfists and a 17 fhr belt with str or dex instead of the ias from deaths set combo.

i like fhr, in my eyes, the best offense is the best defence. heres why:

the fhr table for pallys are as follows:
9 frames-0 fhr on gear
8 frames-7 fhr on gear
7 frames-15 fhr on gear
6 frames-27 fhr on gear
5 frames-48 fhr on gear
4 frames-86 fhr on gear
3 frames-200 fhr on gear

for anyone that doesnt understand ill do a quick explanation. there are 25 frames per sec in d2. when any enemy/opponent deals 1/12 damage to your characters health you will go into a recovery animation. this animation will last however many frames fit your fhr. so if you have a total of 24 fhr. your frames per sec will be at 7. obviously the more fhr you have the faster you can recover from your enemies/opponents hit.

so you want to hit the 48 or fhr mark.

bfists = 30
belt = 17
boots = 10
------------
57 fhr

with your 10% ias and your military pick youll be doing 12 frames per attack or 2 attacks per second.

there ya go... thats all for the gear

now for the charms:
for the charms you want 15 life/+ar. max ar you can get is 12.

thats 300 life and 240. IF you have 20X 15/12 ar charms. which is unlikely. youll be prob hitting around 220 ar??

now for your stat points:
lvl 1 pally
25 Str
20 Dex
25 Vit
15 Ene
55 life

1 pint in vit=3 life
every level you get +2 life

your lvl 9 should have:
str: you need 49 str to use your mil. pick, dont forget to factor in gear
dex:49 to maintain 75% block with your targe shield. you should only need to put about 17 points into this because of your gear.
vit: rest go here

Rush:
you will want a rush to hell act 3...you will get a total of +60 life, +10 skills, +15 stat points... very much worth it. no need to go to diablo or baal because you dont need that many skills, you may if you would like.

Skills:

9 might

your damage with ALL 7 mini damage jewels in your gear:

16 (number of jewels) X7=+112 to minimum dmg+5 min from gloves

117 total minimum damage

weapon dmg=6-10

123-124 damage without adding in sac/might

lvl 9 sac=300% damage added
lvl 9 might=120% damage added
totals to 420% damage added

=516-517 damage (DID I DO THAT RIGHT?!)

and thats your mini damage sac build. this would be EXTREMLY good build. but at the same time you would spend a LONG time trying to get all these mini dmg jewels. i got 2 already

i would say the first problem was surely a typo, you put "3 sock helm- 4x mini jewel" when a 3 socket helm canobviously only hold 3 jewels.

second, you say that 20%dmg and 30ar is the most available on a paladin shield that low but i am sure that some website has mislead you because i have seen 50+enhance damage clean shields for level 9

thirdly, i think it is an interesting buld yes, but worth it? no. A minimum damage assassin will be more effective using less jewels aswell.
assassin is 12 jewels
paladin is 17 jewels.

lots of people know how hard it is to get these jewels, so to spend all of the time it would take to get 5 extra jewels just to make a build that is not as strong as the 12 jewel build seems not worth itin my opinion. still a fun build though

oops, yah you right about the mask
and yes i relize that it is expensive and that the assasin would do much better. but im trying to walk away from the original builds, i want to think up a diff build,t hanks for the input

walking away from "original builds" would mean you;re trying to give people cookie cutter builds. builds that arent original.

i didnt read it all, i stopped after i read the armor. if you;re going to use 4*mini/-15req jewels, you might as well use a superior ancient plate, rather than a gothic. youll get 40 str requirement after -60, and youll get 80-90 more defence.

also, why are you listing the item level?

it is good to think outside the box, i think a mini dmg jabber would be interesting too... you need no jewels for weapon to it only requires 9 jewels.... even less than assassin. and using an ancient plate and crown both superior,, all mini dmg build with some sort of ias/cast amp/eth/repair/attack rating weapon and the right charms, i'm sure it could be a pretty nice build. they would hit often thanks to inner sight, dodge melee attacks some of the time while blocking 75% also, and fast/often hit + decent mini dmg? i think it would be cool, if i could get 9 jewels i would try that first before saving up for mroe for assassin

mini build works on mass dmg chars. ive dueled a full mini zon and tore her apart. and anyway... your whole thing is... very unorganized... catagorize... dont' just stay one subject then jump. then back, then somewhere else. make it look nice. then it could go right next to my max pally build, which is very basic and for begginers... and your not even near the edge of the cookie sheet... your just changing 1 word... max-mini.

i cant organize anything i just type to whatever comes to my head. thats the way i am. you are all right on this subject. 16 jewels compared to the mini assn wouldnt work. i only deal like 514 dmg which isnt worth it. thanks for the feedback

Dont' be discouraged Marley. While your build is not origional it is at least a little different from the norm. Anyone can build an assassin. Even I built one. She is pretty good but I never use her. It is much more fun to build different builds that beat down the assassin. It is nice to see that you are thinking at least one step "out of the box". When I built Kira more than two years ago everybody told me that a Level 9 Zon wouldn't work. I just kept refining her and now she is one of the better level 9s around.

GODZ is right about the Mini Zon thing. A friend of mine basically copied my zon but used all Mini jewels instead of Maxis. I owned her easily. I can tell you exactly why this is but if you think about it it is really easy to figure out.

omg dude first of all pallys arnt always weaker than assasins in vlld lvl 9 ive seen a kick ass assasin get beat down easily by a sac pally before and my old vlld sac pally did 450 dmg without ne chrms. so with chrms u could add a bunch of poison some str dex life all that stuff with 450 dmg original and assasins that use tiger strike dont always do there max dmg they have to build up therefore if you have good dmg and block you can take down a assasin befor it even get its charges up.

my old level 9 pally maxed out at around 1100 max dmg and i think around 250 min (though i'm not sure on the min).
my new assassin does 261 to 262 uncharged and 1041 to 1042 charged, and i still have an open socket in my armor.
i'm thinking of remaking my level 9 pally with better gear and different skills, we'll see.
