Yesterday i was dueling some guy named life_guru. I constantly beat him and he gets mad. "You can only beat me with that newb char" etc etc. So he fills the game up with his friends and nks me. Is a smiter really a newb char?

Personally I think smite is. I hate it, and now in LLD pub games there are like 10x more BM smiters...

Lvl 28 smiters that follow the rules are not newb. Anything of a higher lvl that tries to duel LLDers is "newb". Lvl 28 smiters can be easily negated with sol gear.

but imho high lvl grief + exile smiters are. i hate them i usually see at least 10 of them each day in lld games... my answer for them is gettin my barb, and to quote Ehh:

It's funny how people call "unfair" builds newb because they can't beat them. Seriously, grow some balls, admit you lost and get over it. Or call them newb and realize you just lost. Whatever makes you feel better.

When people start complaining "omg smite/ww/hammer is newb," that's my go code to nk/gold steal. Boy, you wouldn't believe the amount of gold I've gotten in a couple games worth.

If you find that your melee char keeps getting killed by smiters, there?s probably a reason... perhaps it's somehow linked with the phenomenon that makes trappers so hard to kill with ele druids, and hammerdins so hard to kill on zealots. If you have a problem with smiters perhaps you should consider making a new character, instead of expecting your character to be able to kill anything and everything on b.net. And if you think its unfair that a smiter is trying to duel your melee char, don't whine about it, just don't go out there and try to duel him. You wouldn't go fight someone wearing massive absorb with your sorc, why should this be any different. There are no unfair builds/skills/characters.

I've actually been beating smiters with my fury druid but I haven't dueled a good one yet.

Just looking at the numbers, a 30smiter should win though.

I'm just guessing, but I actually don't think smiters have that much of an edge over melee in lld duels, even though they have stun they have much lower damage than any melee char. You can just put on a longer range 2 handed weapon, or perhaps a spirit shield would help zealots with all its fhr and vita. Theres also the option of dr gear, which would hurt lld smiters a lot considering their damage is low in the first place. So far I haven't seen many lld smiters though, I think grits had a def based one that was pretty good. I'm assuming that this thread was geared more towards hld since grief has come along.

newb to me is 1) Hammerdins, light trapsins, blizz sorcs, hurricane druid n uhm donno what else but all at high levels. and for low levels the snap chargers....

Well this is lld, so most chars have 2 different types of attacks, well IMO i believe, but anyways im mostly all smite and i beat alot of characters. Smite is one of the best pubby duelers u can make. I duel alot of higher chars and beat them, if theyre newbish And the only zon that has beaten me is Tinuelve, but she has 30/15 ias gear
