have fun
it basically kicks your ass.

what are accumulation functions? (used in calc classes, nothing of that money thing because I tried googling it. ) |
are u talking about area accumulator functions? things like the trapezoid rule, simpson's rule, and riemann sums?
u can find areas under curves by taking the integral of the function and setting the limits to where u want the area.
B[x] wrote: | I whipped out my old TI-83+ and the only thing I found was a InvNorm function. When I plotted it, it gave me a weird scatter of points. I pulled out my TI-89 Titanium (which is what I use for my classes - required) and after another quick search, couldn't even find any sort of Inverse function. Oh well, most of the stuff I do now is either conceptual or requires a program like Mathematica to do. |
ti83s and ti89s can both draw inverses of functions. here's how to do it on the ti83, since i dont know how to use a ti89 that well yet.
first, enter your function into y1
then under [2nd][draw], there should be a command called drawInv (if u cant find it, use the catalog)
select that and then go to [vars][y-vars][y1]
hit enter and it should draw the inverse
if u want to clear the picture of the inverse, u have to go back to the draw menu, and there's a command for clearing in there.
btw david, InvNorm is a command for statistics courses. it finds the area under the normal curve from points that u specify. the areas under the normal curve have to do with statistical distributions of normal populations.

Thanks for the input guys. I figured out how to draw inverses in teh TI-89.
go to catalog and look up DrawInv then proceed to plug in the equation you want to be drawn the inverse of. press enter. bingo
edit: yo forsaken, you seem to know a lot about everything. what do you do for life?

I guess I'll cover that this semester then - I have to take Stat I as a BS filler course. Also, Calculus I isn't that hard, it's Calculus III that really bites your ass. Even still, that's doable; I made it through and now I'm onto the "fun and interesting" topics.
