I would post here more but I don't go to any tournaments, so the things I have to say aren't really the most interesting Confused my friend who had been on an exchange trip just got back this month, though, so I'll likely end up playing Smash quite a bit with my friends while the summer lasts Smile I just got into using Captain Falcon recently, he's so damn fun to play as! One of the more memorable moments in using him so far was on Onett with myself and three friends, including one of my friends playing as Marth: he had spent a lot of the match standing on the right-side house and slashing anyone who came near him, and we were all playing relatively close-ranged characters so it was hard to get past his reach. I was getting fed up with that, so I went under the inner alcove of the left-side house, bolted across the ground and just rocketed up into him with Falcon's aerial knee. Very unexpected for him I think, lol.

Good luck in the tournament!

Well, got robbed in the tournament. Very low placing, because the brackets had the best players knocking out each other right at the beginning, and everything was fucked up. Hell, a guy who has experience only vs. his friends, who has never been to a tournament, who has never played anyone in the smash community, got tied for 5th place. How fucked is that? I'm pretty pissed, a lot of deserving people got robbed.

Bump.

Tourney in 2 days. I'll update with results afterwards. =)

There was a ridiculous tournament in California recently called OC2. Anyone hear about it? Chesterr01 (1 of our 3 Quebec/Canada representatives) got 17th, PKMVodka got 25th, and vwins got 49th, out of 200 or so people (not random noobs, but...the friggin best in the world)! Woo!

Team Canada got 4th in crews.

This is turning into my personal smash blog Rolling Eyes

I've never really found anyone who can beat me at SF2. I wish there was some more challenge around. I should get a controller and try to play with people online.

You needed to play my brother then...

I'm sorry but Killer Instinct (The original one on SNES) is better than SF2.

Killer Instinct was fun, but it always seemed to be more or less button mashing. SF2 was like a well crafted game of chess.

Killer Instinct was only button mashing when you didn't know the combos. Every fighting game my brothers can sit down and just learn a game. It's so damn annoying... lol, and he knew almost every combo/ultra/move for the people on Killer Instinct.

Yeah, I guess when you play it more you learn more combos and it isn't so button mashy.

I just remember using that Skeletor guy and using that move where you hit them with your shield over and over and over again and for some reason they could never get out of it. I suppose someone who actually knew what they were doing would be able too, though.

That's kind of my problem with modern fighting games; there's too many moves! And they aren't even like really different either. One move will be like "hit these buttons to perform a quick punch punch kick!" and another one will be "Hit these buttons to perform a quick punch kick punch!". I guess they're made to tie combos together, but it sort of over complicates things, I think.

Tekken I think has become a bit like that. But Soul Calibur 2 and 3 have so many moves, they actually made it so you can "charge up" moves because some of the combos take a while and you can press certain buttons to unleash another combo immediately when the first combo ends. It's insane to fight someone who actually knows how to do that, I just put my controller down and watched the screen as I got my butt handed to me.

UPDATE.

Just hosted my own very first tournament at my school, John Abbott Cegep. The turnout was really decent, the setups were amazing, but the competition wasn't too difficult (with the exception of my buddy Jarc). Jarc took 1st and I took second.

I'm travelling to Ottawa for another tournament called "Tilight of Smash 2" on Nov. 4th.

I will edit this with results and brackets soon enough.

maaaaaaan, super smash bros melee eh? my roommate has that game, i just started playing about a month ago and i can already take him down to 1 stock in a 5 stock match. he's fox and im capt. falcon. and just watching some of those videos, its unbelievable how quick and accurate the experts are. i thought my roommate was good? hell no...

i'd like to go a few rounds with you, just to see how badly you can embarrass me Razz i dont know any of those fancy techniques (wave-dashing, l-cancelling... Confused) but even at the level we play, its still fun Very Happy nothing like an over-B, air up-A combo (thats about the extent of my skills haha). watching you play, i realized i should use the flying knee more, something i almost never use. you have given me hope haha
