yet another reason to boycott Nike. |
|
they've ripped off Ian McKaye/Minor threat/Discord with their "Major Threat" summer ad campaign for their skateshoe line.
They are using the graphic from the Minor Threat discography cover art as the banner for this campaign, changing only the name "Minor Threat" to "Major threat".
This corporation is the antithesis of everything Ian/MT/discord stands for, and they are blatantly and unashamedly using the Ian/MT/Disc. name/image to rip off impressionable kids and the world at large with thier disregard for copyright law, predatory profitering, and unspeakable child labor practices the world over.
If you are not currently involved in a boycott of Nike and its subsidiaries, i strongly encourage you to research these points and make a descision for yourself.
call/email/write them and tell them how you feel.
Increase the pressure!

Haha, I read this thread before I left for work and on my way I saw a van for some company (forget which) with a "Minor Threat" logo in the back window.
Anyway, I haven't bought Nike gear in years - not because of this but because all of their clothes are the same "in your face, xtreme" crap as any other mainstream sports company that's trying to catch the eyes of the urban youth.

I have never bought one pair of Nike shoes or clothing. I alway thought
100 to 200 hundred dollars for shoes was insane. I mean they cost like 10 dollars to make.
I am such a tight wad; I spend less then 40.00 bucks for my shoes.

try 2.50. and for the price it costs you to buy this pair of shoes, they can employ 1 kid for 540 hours in some sweat shop in southeast asia.

Sorta off topic, but the pair of Shox Supremacy's I have right now are the best damn basketball shoes I've ever had. Once these break, I'm buying another pair.
