White List |
|
Maybe we should make a 'White list' similar to Battle.net's. It sounds like it would work well as you community is mostly consistent of a small 'core' group of people.
Thoughts, idea's, suggestions?

a "white" list is a list of people who are trusted to transfer, hold items, mod trades (L to NL and cross realm).
I dont really think its necessary. White lists came about because of Blacklists, people who will scam, cheat, and steal. On this forum, its an instant banning for such offenses. The punishment for scamming and stealing is so harsh, that its basically not worth it to even think about it, as it should be! Scammers and theives have no place in this community I like to call my home.
Maybe, you're looking to put together some sort of Transfer List? Maybe people who would be willing to be on call to help someone else on the forum, even though they might not be on their friend's list?

volunteering kind of eliminates the purpose.
That's like saying
"I'll walk this huge bag of money to the bank for you, sure!"
It's more of one of those be asked rather than ask to be things.

actually, a list of ppl u can call on to xfer might not be bad idea. while its true that almost no one on this forum would steal, there still are times when none of your friends are on, or no one can help u xfer

while we dont have members who have been caught for such things as scamming, there have been several accusations of members (without enough proof) scamming sent to my PM box. there are also certain members who dont trust other certain members, so if a trade was to happen between the two, a 3rd person may be required.
david, sean and myself were already discussing a "wall of trust" type thread, listing members who have time and time again proven they are honorable and legit traders a month or so ago. almost every single old member would be on this list. while new members would obviously have to prove themselves, if they wanted to be on the list. but as we have seen, there is the odd occassion where an "old" member goes off the deep end and for one reason or another decides to do something stupid.
where am i going with this? a wall of trust idea may be a good idea, simply for the fact that not everyone on this forum is buddy-buddy with each other. but if we implement it, we wouldnt want it to be interrpreted as to say "if you arent on this list, you arent trusted, or to be trusted". it would just need to be taken as a "no gauruntee" type trade.
as always, moderators, and even admin, can be called on to moderate a trade, if required, by members. but since there are so few of us, the time it takes to meet up and do so could be days to weeks. and that is another reason why a wall of trust may be a good idea.
however, as i have seen on d2jsp, there is an option were "trusted" or "not ranked" can be put beside your name. so even then, a trust list thread may be obsolete, if we choose that route.

sounds like a good idea to me...mostly for the fact i dont trust myself xfering alone....and sometimes no 1 is on (like 4 in the morn...lol)....i may not be able to play but if ne 1 needs an xfer i can jump on real fast and help...10 frame skip doesnt hurt when u just stand there...lol

if php supports such an option, i'm all for it. if i remember correctly, not only does d2jsp have those tags but they also have a Trust List type of thread. we could do the same, putting a Trust List sticky in the New User Q & A section for people to refer to in a time of need. this list could have the person's username and main account(s) so that they can be msged on b.net, skipping the PMs.

When the account names of trusted people are listed the account names should be in all capitols to prevent people from impersonating a trusted person.

well, if we do do this, all the necessary letters will be in appropriate form. for example, any L will be capitalized, any i will be lowercase, and so on and so forth.

I like Ownage's idea, we could have a section of all the members and their account names and a section of Whitelisted members and their account names.

Expect more scamming.
Someone is white listed, and have an easy copyable name.
For example.
Delybrio
DeIybrio
Thus, the scammer is helping xfer, and jacks everything, and gets away scott free with no proof against them.
Happens on JSP ALL the time.
One dude got mules of currency from scamming pretending to be the_futon_god
