I want to start llding, I was going to make a charger, but it was just taking so long to find the charms and jewels that i gave up. I want to know what the most affordable way to start dueling is, and where to find the stuff. Thanks

Well, unless you have a decent amount of max dmg charms, melee is pretty much ruled out.

So I would say start out with a caster of some sort.

Fireball or Blizz sorcs are pretty easy to do. You just need to find a decent orb with +skills, a decent ammy with +1 all or +2 to a certain tree, and some decent rings, unless you have 2 SoJs on ladder...Aside from that, just stock up on life, mana, frw, resists, fhr, str, dex charms. Fireball is a more mana intensive skill, so if you don't have much mana, you might lean more towards blizzard, since you only need ~400-500 mana at the most (and I'd recommend no less than 300) for an effective blizz sorc.

Necros are also fairly easy to make, as they require a +1 all or +2 to p/b ammy, rings, and a shield, preferably with +bs or spear, 2 sockets, 'rhyme'ed.

They require more mana charms than a blizz sorc does though. So unless you have a good supply of mana charms, I'd be wary of making a necro. You need ~500-600 mana for a necro usually.

Trapsins are pretty easy to make too, along with ele druids (though you will have trouble against other ranged chars...but you'll own melee Rolling Eyes ).

These are probably the 5 easiest lld builds to make in terms of ease of item findability and effectiveness.
1. Blizz sorc
2. Necro
3. Fireball sorc
4. Trapsin
5. Ele Druid

the kicker requires no jewels.
its fairly cheap and the main reason my first dueler on ladder was a kicker.. (I simply owned nothing of value charms/jewels wise)

it just requires the basic attention to:
blocking
dmg(boots)
AR
Life

other than that, Knarl has covered it

as to where to find the stuff: nightmare and hell cows. they are LLD item heaven, practically a shopping mall where everything is free. also try doing boss runs for a rare orb, like nm andy or even nm travincal (but i found all 4 of mine in nm/hell cows)

If you have nothing to start with, I suggest you to make a kicker.

I'd also suggest a kicker if you have no gear or are just plain very poor. I've gotten my fair share of "wtf!"s due to the gear I used to kill them. Wink
