Among the similarities that d2 and Borderlands has includes:
leveling up/exp pts
class selection
skill points
character builds
item/currency drops
"arena" duels
randomization of modifications on drops
little/no story plot! haha im sure d2 has some i joke
thats just for starters... and i play this on the xbox 360

It is a sweet game, but there are problems....
1) Character saves are client side, meaning you use the same characters for SP and MP.... and any person with the mind to can make thier gear. New patch fixed most broken hacked weapons but no trade potential when you can just make weapons.
2) Divided over multiple systems. I have the best version (PC) but can't play people on 360 or PS3, so it dilutes the player pool
3) PvP is mostly 1-2hits/shots for victory, making it pretty weak. Besides the retarded range limiting sphere.... makes sniper build unplayable pvp.
4) gamespy game client.... with all games hosted locally by the host [lag city for others]
Aside from that, taken soley on its single player or online co-op strengths, its an amazing game and well worth the money (last DLC as well).

there are a couple pvp arenas scattered throughout the game, not just the duel domes. but i've never lost a duel anyway. i just throw my bloodwing out just before the duel starts, and as soon as he can, he'll 1-hit whoever i'm dueling. pretty broken
