Just out of curiosity, how many of you still read these forums?

Secondly, how many of you are for the 2nd amendment, or against it? Also post where you live so we have an idea on the gun laws in your place of residence.

I'm pro-gun and unforuntely live in a very restrictive New York City.

Do you care for my opinion since I'm north of the 49th?

2nd amendment is not upheld anyway, citizens do not have an unequivocal right to bare arms....But i think gun laws should be FAR less restricted for women, that data is at least clear as a bell.

lived in NY, LA now SF

the irony being they cant aim <booming laughter>

id like to add that laws restricting guns only keep responsible people from having them...
just like how laws against marijuana just keep responsible citizens from using it... and cocaine, amphetamine or opiates and every other drug because they are all the same....
and laws against prostitution only keep responsible citizens from responsible sex work...

because why should the Govt tell you what is good or bad for you?? when you have the right to educate yourself on the facts and make the decision for yourself?

i'm just saying is all....... if someone wants to get on big Govt for regulation and restrictions than really get on it

I care krajee, I care...

Heprea, where do you live?

I just find it ironic that so many school shootings happen in "gun-free" zones, while you never hear of that kind of stuff happening in shooting ranges. Feeling safe, and being safe are mutually exclusive, just imagine how things at Virgina Tech, and other school shootings might've been prevented or deterred if maybe 1% of faculty and 1% of students exercised their right to conceal carry.

Alot of the younger kid school shootings are in heavily gun-free zones (mainly they borrow the kids guns and take them to their school).

Allowing women to carry guns... not sure about that. I'm all about women safety, but like 75% of weapons that women (besides the mace and then run technique) are used against them. I think we should take out the no cruel and unusual punishment for sex crimes.

I guess if I had to choose... I'd say that we need the 2nd amendment, just incase we need the weapons for a revolution.

Hence why I said "accidentally" Wink They wouldn't be able to do it on purpose.

I still read (whats left to read that is).

It's difficult to answer the gun question.

On the one hand; What do you need them for, if no one has a gun no one gets shot. And with things like assault rifles/automatic weapons etc. who do you intend to defend against?

On the other hand; If gun laws don't stop the bad guys getting guns (but I bet they stop more than you would think), why shouldn't you have one?

Grim, that just proves that you can't just hand someone a firearm and expect them to use it effectively. I'm sure properly trained individuals, male or female, would be alot more potent than not.

Diplo, just outta curiosity, how often do you have to clean your guns in the sandbox?

The thing is, if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have them. If you make laws like they do now, prohibiting ownership of firearms, you'll just disarm law abiding citizens. Criminals are going to get their hands on them anyways. Why should they be expected to follow gun laws anyways, hence the name criminal.

For highschools anyways, parents would definitely not like it if they knew staff was carrying firearms.

Most assaults/rapes the women won't have time to get their gun out.

Done unsuspectingly or by someone they know/trust.

You know how to use a knife... but it's in your purse which I just ripped out of your hands.

Does no good.

Sure, it'll help against some of the attacks... but the majority would just be escalated.

I think that women should be implanted with secret ninja skills that only activate when attacked or attempted raped.
