the assasin has much more mititgation possibilities. the sols + some dr% will dramaticaly scale your survival when you can drop a smiters dmg by 20-40%
this is a much better option and still allows the kickers to retain alot of its build,
now the question is having a better offense
the brandistock works to get the UNiteruptible sequence attack 1st.
a powerfull smiter should not be able afford to sacrifice its weapon/helm/armor/shield to mitigate a crushing/venom/range5 attack from kicker
the smiters KB fast speed often overrides your kick sequence, and you become simply a punching bag. getting the kick sequence to pass the "hit" flag first is crucial, thuis 7/3 and range 5 as being so powerfull
c/c is also not that great as the range blows and thus it doesnt matter if u clawblock some of the attacks
also only 1 claws actual stats like ias or crushing are used. , since the strength will be the dominate to gain crushing, the other claws "off weapon" ias is treated oddly , (i know jrichard did some research on it, its a pain to work out imo)
yes kickers do handle range fights quite well.
confidant 2 hand chargers had been my favorite,
bm necros with bone prison+wall spamming never liked the surprise 3 TS globes + DF + some lucky kicks (plus i had an amp claw)
and sorcs with cold stacking from fade(or charms) , same as light res in some gear switchs

even with kicks, where youre not using a weapon attack, cb won't work unless its your main hand?
thats a shame...i thought that was just for on-hand ias and ds.

good question,
in my experience it was marginal and just a waste of mana
but i can see a few tricky uses,
fast + accurate it can help with taking a guided arrow, bone spirit, few zeals, traps, get in the way of an opponent running away or even towards you. mess with their targeting,
having a passive "pet" throw out some traps/blasts and kicks can help..
or at the very least a 1 sec distraction as you approach and your opponent kills it.

Sorry that this is kind of a necro bump, but figured its as good a place to ask as any.
What kind of dmg was your pure strength build getting? You never gave numbers for you sin and your sig is changed now....
I'm wondering because I've been trying to work out a LS/kick hybrid recently with mediocre results. My current setup is this:
primary claw: strength handsythe /w +2LS/+MB/+bladesheild
Off hand claw: +1traps/30ias/5% ctc amp "shaeled" bladetalon
Ammy: +1sin/10fcr/5xlife/5xmana/res
Ring1: 10fcr/105ar/19life/8x mana
Ring2: 10fcr/10life/8x mana
Armor: Vipermagi "shaeled"
Helm: Pcrown "Pskulled"
Belt: IK
Gloves: IK
Boots: 30frw/10fhr/3x light res rare warboots
Prebuff gear: +2venom/2fade claw & 2shadow discipline claw
I didn' go pure str and am only at ~160, ~90dex, rest vit. I get about 450kick dmg and 950life..... LS remains low until I find a diff offhand claw and rebuild (~550LS).

I have several specific questions, even though this sin is more of a hybrid, I norm go claw/claw, and I use BoS not fade (except vs melee). I do find 70% of my dmg comes from my 450dmg 3kicks talon instead of 50:50 traps and kicks as envisioned. Should I stop using the strength claw as primary claw when I duel casters and rely on the amp/ias claw instead (i currently use it as primary claw vs all)?
Or should I keep strength claw primary but find a diff secondary claw (1sin/30ias/3ls/df/2soc in a perfect world)?
If I dropped the hybrid atempt and went pure kick how much more dmg would my kicks do (aka is that what I should switch to)?

if u went pure kick u gain a heck of allot more dmg, and survival.
drop vipermagis FCR for spirit shroud(+whitsans for melee) or twitch(+rhyme melee)
angelics will add another ~145 life.
depending on how u use +skills or hardPoints you could get more into fade, slvl 13% +11skill with SOE 15% = 39%!
a 4th kick
u should be approaching 200 venom, 600 kick(about 40% more then u currently perform) when pure kicker maybe 900 life (hell rushed) 850 (normal)
the sacrifice u make now is 1pnt in C/C for casters and use +skills to boost it a bit
for c/c u can try to triple shael a Hand scythe with 1 DF to unlock the skill for free to use on casters. and the scythe can be off-weapon but u still get the ias afaik (need to read up on Jrichards guide again)

For c/c, I think you need the IAS on the primary side in order to get fastest trap laying speed..and maybe kick speed. I might be wrong, though. I would check your IAS/FPA levels just to be certain you're hitting the highest break on both. This is especially true when you use a shield, since your frames will drop a bit by not having a fast claw on the other hand.
I've got my LLD ghost...doesn't rely on trap damage, but the stun, so I have a bit of experience if you have any questions. I also have a pure kicker. Pure kick without strength build gets approximately 500 damage, but depends if you use IK or not. I just tried all strength, and I got maybe 600ish, can't remember exactly.

how is this sequence ideally handled.
u kick and continue to MB on the target for the WoF to stun?
i would need like 3-4 seconds on the MB length. and the casting sequence would be a nightmare.
WOF ,mb , 3kick dt, 3kick dt, mb
repeat?
is it more of a run stopping trick?

for me I find LS is more of a runstopper for Dflight, then get 1 kick salvo. They start leaving so more traps + 2x WoF for stun and try to get a few more kicks in.
Often doesn't work perfect though, but LS seems to usually slow runners enough. I have a harder time with any char with block and alot of dmg (Hdins, Fballers, fury) that gets agressive. They can do enough dmg between stun to kill me
Not quite sure how chewies ghost works out though.

PS: i tried switching which claw is primary and the ias doesn't seem to matter much for attacking (but I am hanging kicks less now), but I do find amp better than CB for alot of duels which is something I hadn't expected since the %ctc is low.

A pure strength build should be able to get to 650 max easily.
