I use winmx, I forgot the website but jsut type winmx into a search engine, as far as I can tell it's spyware/adware free and I don't think you can get caught.

i use Direct Connect but if you don't have a hub to connect to (like one hosted by someone on your college campus), you're better off using something else like winmx or limewire. though i've never used limewire, i heard it's pretty good.

Im unfortunately impatient when it comes to downloading music lol! so ill most likely opt for the fastest of the two. I just hate downloading programs etc.

ok, so im trying soulseek, mind you i haven't used one of these programs ever. i keep getting remotely queded..thingy how come and can someone show me how to dload this stuff better, without gettin 1:10 remotely q...

first off, anyone who gets soulseek, add thelittlevoices to your list, and download some bands you havent heard of off me.

secondly. "remotely queued" means that you are waiting in line to download off someone. the person can set a limit of how many people can download at once, and once that limit is filled, the rest get "queued". all you can do is wait, and eventually your turn in line will come up. if you want to check your place in line, right click the file name in the transfer window and click on the option "get place in line".

a tip for searching. files often come up in grey writing. that means the user has a queue list (people waiting to download). items in black writing generally mean the user doesnt have anyone downloading off them. so they will more than likely let you download right away.

another tip. look for fast download speeds. the "D/L Speed (avg)" rate. people with a higher rate, will obviously go through their que lists much faster than one with a slower rate. however, those with faster rates and large amounts of files often have large que lists. but that info is also available in the search list, under the heading "in queue". Wink

I was just gonna post exactly what voices did. Soulseek is awesome, especially for getting full albums without that distorted crap.

hmm just dl'd the soulseek and i must say the variety of music available is quite impressive compared to that of other p2p networks, and Voices i must say you have a good but rather mixed taste in music... glad to find somwhere where i can dl some more def leppard and dream theatre Twisted Evil

Also this is the first p2p network that has alot of undergound bands namely therion. Thanks marie for starting this thread because im sure many people including myself will benifit from it.
