question about the ladder reset |
|
I haven't played much if at all sense last reset, but I do know that there was a huge duping spree thingy that pretty much ruined the economy of diablo. can or will that happen on the new ladder? cause if it's just going to get ruined again by dupers (of course I know things will get duped, but not super massively out of control dupes) I don't really want to play the new season. but if it's going to be fine, then I will.

Have you noticed the horrible lag on D2 lately?
Dupers are duping like crazy to make some good ladder only runewords.
I'm guessing 3-6 months before the duping spree hits Ladder.

You realize this is D2, right? If one way gets patched, they find another. That's why they called the old one the "public" dupe method .

You thought wrong.
From what I've heard, there are several ways to dupe, and most of them deal with lag duping still (in other words, they're really easy and if one gets out it'll ruin the economy again).

this ladder reset means blizzad is giving a little atention on d2 again imo.
i will play on this ladder and enjoy a "non dupe" world, even that lasts like 2 months.

yea, i know the old bonewall / meteor / psn java method
just read up on this a lil bit cause i was curious, turns out the newer "public" method is very similar, but with lit sorcs and bonewalls .....it all deals with desynching from servers 'n stuff, but i've never tried it........don't ever want to either.

Usually, when they reset the ladders they also do something to stem the tide of dupes. So maybe Blizz have a little patch or something ready for the 25th.

imo the best way to stop duping isnt to stop the duping itself, but to stop perming. if they can stop temp-perming, then duping would be essentially useless. or at least dupes wouldnt be around for longer than a couple weeks in most cases

Waramp, I think that would only boost duping, and therefore do nothing. because if everything always poofed then they have to dupe extra. And you know they will...

Who's gonna bother duping or trading for dupes when the item won't even make it into the next game?

If temp perming was abolished, there would be no point in massively duping more items, because they would poof immediately regardless...

i don't know much about how game actually game works, but i'm afraid the temp perm has something to do about how game works
maybe changing that would envolve alot of game programing and deep game codes... and they are just too lazy to do that
or... im just talking about something i don't know and being stupid

Battle.net scans for dupes as you leave a game. Very very little change required to make it leave all current temp perming methods ineffective.
