I already know your response. "You're not supposed to take the Bible literally." That's always the excuse.

Then you don't know me very well. My response was going to be exactly what I said a few pages ago:

If they start to quote the Bible they automatically lose.

The bible was a book written by humans without divine inspiration, and used as a control mechanism to cow easily controlled people into submission via intimidation. The entire book of Leviticus is clearly some nutbar zealot's take on "how people should live". If the Book of Leviticus were written today, its author would be "honored" akin to David Koresh, Jim Jones or Warren Jeffs.

I don't think the Bible and belief in God have anything to do with one another. The bible is a device of humans to control their fellow human beings.

soaring/dao ; as much as i can relate to the carefullness of approaching zealous belief, i chose to create a black and white scenario for the sake of convincing others to change.

its my conviction i was taking a cautious, resonable approach to facts/evidance and practices, why not back it 100% against those who, in spite of contrary evidance, demean it without the same level of reason.

the purpose was picking what i felt was a lesser evil with greater resonability, and standing by it even if it ment being a prick.

as example; the evolution thread
when i see a child denied an education by a parent so rooted in faith, i weight that against the "horror" of raising a child to embrace science.

we dont really know what happens to a culture when it sheds spiritual faith and goes scientific, i think people asume it might be worse... i asume it will be better. its not unreasonable to hope that a truely educated society would function better without superstition, thats why i push.

Aww, good bye everyone that works on Sundays... Good bye myself. :-(

Deut 21:18-21
"If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father and mother, who does not heed them when they discipline him, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate of that place. They shall say to the elders of his town, ?This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.? Then all the men of the town shall stone him to death. So you shall purge the evil from your midst; and all Israel will hear, and be afraid."

:-( There goes all our teenagers, they're dead too!

Leviticus 20:13
"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them."

I guess milk jug hates homo's too.

All the intelligent Christians better get to work now, and fulfill gods wishes.

Go google those verses, they aren't fake.

FYI those verses are:

#1 for the Kingdom of Israel.

#2 referring to the old law which was before Christ.

#3 Hardly referring to the "nonbelievers".

#4 That was how things were done back then, an act of homosexuality was just as bad as murder and just like a murder today....the homos got what was justice.

"#2 referring to the old law which was before Christ"

You are stating that the bible is incorrect. Or at least the older version of it?

Your a homo-hater too?

Well I can tell you never read it.

The old law was what a person had to live by before Christ came in order to go to heaven(AKA Abraham's bosom) but when Christ came and died on the cross he took those sins upon himself so that you could go to heaven if you believed in him because....who could live up to the old law? Very few.

So after Christ you didn't have to go to hell if you even broke one of the old day laws.

I don't know the whole bible and nor will I, but it sure is an interesting read even if your not religious.

Edit:

What makes you think that?, I have never mentioned any of my beliefs on that subject.

i very much doubt anyone could convincingly argue against that.
any writing(s) that withstand a couple hunder years of revisions, and lasts on shelves for 2k+ is bound to be full of good plot, storyline, theme, metaphor and structure; close to timeless as well id imagine.

i like enders game, 1984 and every tragic greek play too... but im not going to involve a huge portion of my life by them. Although i know some people who REALLLY get into LoTR and speak like elves...... we call them geeks

so u bible nerds can just give yourself a swirly Razz Laughing Laughing
