But if you're praying passionately for the recovery of your wife, and your wife believes in the power of that prayer, there is a studied psychosomatic effect in some cases that your wife's faith in your prayer (and her belief in its effectiveness) will cause psysiological processes in her body to slightly speed her recovery.

Psychosomatic effects can be pretty impressive. They have nothing to do with religion though.

I'm sure faith in the flying spaghetti monster would have the same effect.

I just think it's funny that people who don't agree with any religion often dislike it because they constantly preach, yet those same people spend countless hours doing the same thing except on the opposite side.

That video was of such poor quality I couldn't stand watching it for more than 1 minute. It hurt my eyes looking at the huge blocks of blurry text.

I dont like any religion because i dont like anyone telling me how to think, or putting constraints on my idea of a supreme being, even though i dont believe in one because...i mean for christs sake im in a band called empiracy (one of the definitions is something to the effect of "knowledge through experience")

lol. Did you see the other definition eh??? We have a song about Captain Ahab...thats pretty pirate-ish huh?

The definintion i was referring to was taking the root "Empirac" from empiracle. And as we all know what empiracle evidence is.

The other def. is the actions of an Empirate or dictator.

no
the time has come, and i said so, so it is!

you pick a stand.

you are either for the supernatural. or NOT...
plain and simple

if u beileve in god, then u also fully beileve in unicorns, pastafariasism, purification of hethens,
also that lake of fire about 95% of the world will burn in for eternity by a guy with red skin and pitch fork! yep thats real!

if you dont care if beilef fitd on a balance with every other provable and repeatable piece of data that has undergone time tested science/experience you live in denial and exteme fantasy.

accept the fact that humanity doesnt know everything, but making it up is not the asnwer! lets work on figuring things out on realities terms (natures terms). refine the contrary evidance and drop this old age crap.

none of this space cayote bullshit.... granted space cayotes rock the socks.. but still

i for one am really sick of seeing a country i once felt proud in, having a leader veto foreign policy descisions with a strong faith in god weighing heavily
and i refuse to let it be allowed with a big argument

,,,,i will continue to bash any supernatural faith at any proper thread/moment, i will shame you and poke holes at your logic.. i will bring you to violence, bc that is what it comes down too and that is my point!

your faith is fine if u keep it in your pants, problem is we have alot of stupid ideas contrasting with eachother
nature is the ruler.
obey nature and shut your minds eye up.

now pick a side and get angry, we are at war!

They have something to do with religion only in that people who strongly "believe" in the power of something can trigger that psychomatic response. Religion tends to encourage those sorts of strong beliefs, regardless of what deity/animated anthropomorphic food beast you pray to. My point was not that "religious prayer cures injuries", but that "strong beliefs can trigger psychosomatic responses", and that religion tends to endow people with "strong beliefs"

Man, I sure am glad a low-quality poorly edited youtube came around to finally prove Christianity wrong after 2000 years. Boy do I have egg on my face!

My thoughts exactly. If you're going to deny Christianity/religion, at least cite better sources when you do so. There's plenty enough out there...

anyone see that episode of south park where everyone became athiests in the future, but there was still war because the 3 main factions of athiests were all fighting over what to call themselves? was pretty funny. there was the allied athiest alliance, the united athiests league, and 1 more that i cant remember.

Or how the right religion was Mormon... and he said it like he was answering a game show question... awesome. Means I have a shot in Heaven (I used to be Mormon)!

Dao is right, having an open mind is far better than letting a religion think for you.

I believe in God, but I'm not sure about Jesus... but I call myself a Christian because it's easier than trying to explain what I am (besides saying Agnostic [but the average person doesn't know what Agnostic is].

Anyone who takes the bible as literal is a fool, and anyone who tries to disprove God by taking the bible as literal is a fool.

Also, Breakbeatz is a fool.

Edit: Why do I no longer have the ban tag? Sad

When it comes to religion there are only two things that make me happy.

Dont push it on me
Dont push it on others

Im not a Bible thumper however I do pray for people or just pray, if anything it gives you some ground to stand on when everything seems down Rolling Eyes. However these things like abortion, banning of gay marrage and things drive me up the wall. I hate it when people push there religion to the point of attempting to make it a law.
