The Olympics are really screwing up their sports now though. Synchronized diving? Lawn bowling? You call those sports?

those have been around for awhile, they're just not really popular. i mean, equestrian (horseback riding) is an olympic sport and does anybody watch that? hell, i don't even think they televise that, they'd rather show repeats of the swimming events.

and yeah, bela, my eyes were bleeding by the time i finished reading that.

i just told you what it was calling. curling. they slide a rock across the ice while their teamates sweep the ice to keep it from sticking. the point is to get it closest to the middle circlet to get points. its nothing like hop scotch Rolling Eyes

I'd have trouble with the ice skating part while sweeping... lol. So to me, if it has a set way to win and involves physical activity, then I usually call it a sport.

uh yah. i have 4 horses and a pony. we live in the best equestrian land in the US and are prolly almost neighbors with a few of the us olimpic horse riders. if u have money u most likely watch it. it's a big event and it's very serious. my mom makes a living at it and is pretty damn well known for it... people pay her to ride their horse... on any typical day. it's not a joke it's a serious thing.. though it doesn't seem much becuase u have never been there or have never ridden.

I'm 14 years old, going to be a sophomore in September at a crappy public school where people can't name the planets in the solar system...

I spend most of my time talking to my girlfriend on IM (I don't play much Diablo anymore), listening to music, and maybe doing the occasional odd program in BASIC or some HTML, both of which I haven't done in years.

Hmmm...I'm probably going to major in chemistry, graduate early possibly, go to college, blah blah blah.

When the brooms sweep the ice faster, the friction on the ice gets weaker, and the ice kind of melts a tad, making the rock go faster. I think curling is EXTREMELY boring, but I think canadians watch it more than americans do because it's a canadian sport.

And there's more strategy and rules involved than just getting it close to the middle of the target Wink

Maybe he's talking about "shot put" in the summer olympics Wink

DAMNIT Canada get more medals going!
