we need somewhere inthis forum to start fights !
it's fun.. they have hat type of forum on other sites, like dtrades, and people just go in there and argue and debate and stuff. it gets pretty fun. and you should call it 18+ and take the word censor off for that forum cause the word censor isn't that great of an idea to begin with. it;s taking the "pg-13"ness of this forum too far.. they do use curse words in pg13 movies
anyways like spazz said.. its pretty boring just a straight info/trade site that you cant even get info on cause all you get if you ask something is a link and/or a smart remark .. so adding a place to debate and arguewith no word censor will bring lots more fun

good idea

and if we gave a place where people could do this, we would see less of it in the other sections.. but theres barely any now... so it could be interesting

real arguments can happen in the off topic section, but when a "battle" pops up, and a few are bound to, it can just be moved to the battle section... just an idea.

its more fun to say some stuff in front of everyone.. pm'd arguements aren;t anything like battle grounds arguements. for you krajee, it could be a place where you can actually be rude to someone, and be an ass and call them idiots, instead of just hinting towards what you are really saying with smart little comments all the time. a forum that will give you the balls to say what you feel cause you wont have to be afraid of gettnig in trouble!
as the other guy said, it takes spam out of threads too. as soon as 1 semi-flame comes up they can get warned to take it to the BG ..

I walk the line as closely as I can. I've gotten a few pms from "higher up" about what I type. Does that stop me? Not really, but I just do it less frequently.

I still do it.

The biggest problem with having such a forum is that there are many who will take issues from that "battle" forum and bring them elsewhere in the forums.

I could make a "Battleground" sticky in Off-Topic, if that is wanted. It wouldn't be a new forum, but it would be something. However, as previously pointed out, Off-Topic already has its occasional arguments/"battles" anyway.

The only advantage I could see to a separate "battleground" forum would be an administrative one: it's been my expectation that I wasn't going to allow flamewars or pointless arguments to thrive in OT. If OT is going to be or has been designated as a "flames okay" forum (which it hasn't been in the past), then it invites ALL posts in that forum to become subject to flame bait. Parsing off a separate "battleground" forum would allow the mods to keep OT civil, while having a new space to allow people to go as buckwild as they want.

And you admins know that I want my name at the top of the list to mod a "flame forum", if you decide to create one. I was born for it, baby. Twisted Evil

I suggested this awhile back, Sean knows my stance on it (or can Search it if he forgets Wink ). Realize that if a Flame Forum (I like the name, Ken) were to be created, we would be much stricter concerning what we allowed to be said in the rest of the forum.

It comes down to you, Sean.

By doing this, and enforing the more strict guideline which would be put on the rest of the forum, we could possibly eliminate all the "bad talk" and such that many of our more mature, and our younger members do not wish to see, and also opening up a spotlight for our quicker more agressivly prone members to shine :] it works both ways, i like it.

Which is not to say, I assume, that people can't disagree outside of the FF; merely that we'd all expect that the pointless crap that tends to crop up around here when threads run long either remains civil, or stay on topic. I know that I'd personally be *much* tougher on threads in OT - if I see angry/pointless disagreements break out (as opposed to normal conversational discourse) I'll probably split the whole thread into the FF, regardless of whatever the original topic was about.

I personally like the idea of a "Flames/Rants" forum. I also like the idea of splitting up the OT Discussion forum, but I suspect we don't have a large enough active user database to support splitting up OT too much. Ultimately, I think we could split the whole OT subsection into several different forums:

1. Alt. Games
2. General Discussion
3. Tech Support
4. Flames & Rants (Should have a cooler name though)

Where items #1 and #2 are basically the current forums, #3 is self-explanatory, and #4 is the "I'm pissed off about something/someone and I want to b*tch about it" section. Personally, I'd like the FF to contain room for ranting, because I'm a guy that likes to rant about crap.
