lots of hard core ff7 people but dont forget the fuondation for that game
all the other good rpgs b4 it (bof3 powns) i also played dnd but now a days you cant find a non currupt Gm so iv stoped playing it. for those of u that are younger you gata respect the old school Wink cuz thats where
all the graet ones come from. Dao if you can get a hold of a ps2 i strongly recomend you try Disgaea. if u liked ff tactics u wil love this game
i have yet to hear any thing bad about Disgaea

I liked it. For me it's a close second, following Tactics of course.

Chrono: My friend mentioned Disgaea a few times, don't really remember what he said exactly. Everything was positive I'm sure, because he played LaPucelle Tactics, which comes from the same makers; along with similar gameplay. He's obsessed with RPGs and if he were a member here, he'd have voted for XenoGears.

I'm going to repent and say Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

I mean...where else can you get beaten to death by a gang of horses... ?

Star Ocean: 2nd story

Tales of Destiny 2

you cant beat the classics.... those werent up there, ill vote FF7
All these new RPGS are straying from whats really important. No sense of story, and they are trying on graphics to hard IMO.

Well it's not really an RPG, but least Zelda has chickens.

you are right in a sense but rem not all games r like that
and yea i forgot Star Ocean: 2nd story itsa good game the other i do not know of so i cant not say anything about it. stil all u need to do is look harder the good games are out there one of is metal gear solid for ps1
and fall out wich i think are some very well made games
Star Ocean: love the ability to make every thing and even forge inn documents that make u own it
as for
metal gear:the story is just wow and its just so many parts of it make it unik i love any game that shows me something new and or makes it hard to forshadow events
and Fall out i have never ever in any game felt so free of restritions i mean u can do just about any thing pick so many skills and feats for those of u that read dnd Smile tho a word to the wize dont ever kil a kid in that game or buonty hunters will hunt u down Shocked (shot in to a crowed killed a kid and now i got mercs on my ass)

also on a side note morrowwind rings a bell and i get good feed back on it i wana try tho i dont know where to find how old is it is there a crack for it or any of the like it seems morrowwind shuda ben up there

I liked it.

I think the complaint from too many people was that it was too "goofy" and "light-hearted", which was *exactly* why I liked it. All the other FF games had these chronically depressed, uber-Emo anti-heroes who spent most of the game in a state of self-loathing and pathos. (For God's sake - you lose control of Cloud for like 10% of the game because he sinks into a coma of self-loathing and despair. How weak was that?!) But the hero of FF9 (whose name escapes me) was a cheerful scoundrel, and a good guy. I really liked the fact that at the very end of the game he stayed with the villain while the world tree was destroyed, simply because he felt the bad guy was redeemable. That was pretty refreshing. Plus, the ending theatre act was just super cool.

Damn. I need to buy a PS2 and play that game again. (Assuming I ever find time between GW: Factions and ESIV: Oblivion. Hell, I've already given up on ever playing GTA: San Andreas.)

ok, considering the main character's life revolves around killing, not to mention the discipline a swordsman should have, what else would you expect?

Miyamoto Musashi was a pretty easy going guy. Rumored to have drank like a fish in his youth, killed a famous swordsman with an oar he picked up on the way to the duel (Sasaki Kojiro, who was using a No-Dachi), and retired to a life of quiet contemplation. Hardcore, to be certain. But emo? Not hardly.

That emo crap is right out of Japanese/American translation. You see the exact same lameness in Xenogears (Fei = worst RPG hero EVER), toward the end of Metal Gear Solid 2 (or whichever one first had Raiden in it) and in the anime Evangelion. (I've never wanted more to be able to physically enter into a TV show and physically strangle the hero than I did in Eva. Afterward I would have sex with Misato on Shinji's corpse, because I'm sick like that.)

good story

good character development/customization
good balance nothing to overpowering good lvl of difficulty
character that have depth/are loveable feel realistic
good amont of twist and turns. not being able to forshadow
has some thing new and innovating(this to me has big significants)
replay value
and the least impotant, graphics that is FOR ITS TIME.did thy push the limit of the graphics for that time?

also on aside note i just remembered these good games
Jade cocoon
vandal hearts
Saga frontier(in what other game can u makea mage a brawler)
