Anyone else attempting to play this with an unsupported graphics card?

I sorted out most of the problems but i cant leave the sewer without it crashing.

I need help! Its that or shell out for a new card, and i dont really want to now that agp is on the way out:(

Grr... I have it in my hands (I'm back in California for the week), but my super awesome computer is back in Kuwait... and my Mom's computer probably couldn't run Pong without reducing the graphics settings.

Ubermoose, its possible, but you have to hope that your graphics card has its own software, because if it does then you can normally tune your graphics card for the maximum possible PERFORMANCE, which will make it run ALOT better than it will with QUALITY settings on.

Im using a Radeon 9980 256mb AGP video card, and oblivion moves like a rock when my video cards settings were tuned to high quality for morrowind, but once i moved it to high performance its working like a champ..

Anyways has anyone noticed that the game is a bit tuff.. i mean the oblivion gates and such.. I Think so far the easiest thing for me was the arena, which i managed to beat with a level 12 mage summoners, and then again on my 20 assasin using the blackwhatever blade by draining the really hard guys fatigue all the way down so they couldnt act..

Another thing.. i hate the way you drop things in oblivion, i do hope someone make a mod for that, and my last complaint is for spells.. it sucks butt that you cant create your own spells at least as far as i know..

Ohh thats some bs there.. Grr I hate playing casters but in oblivion the casters are alot more powerful..

I guess ill have to make me one of them good ole cleric monks :]

oblivian is a beast, my computer will only run it for about 4 hours then either over heats and shuts down or locks up so every 4 hours i have to re-boot :/

Its possible to make it work without tho. You need to dl a program which forces it to use other shaders [or you can dl a different shaders pack thats just been un-officially released at the eldar scrolls website].

Ive done this and managed to get it from "white screen o' doom" to "just about playable". It still crashes when i try and leave the sewers tho Twisted Evil

wat r your specs?

i can give u my comp specs....it runs oblivion at high settings with HDR or Bloom/AA at 1280x1024 at 30fps constant outdoors, and 50ish in towns.

i have:

xfx 6600GT 128mb
amd 64 3000+
1gig of shitty ram (266 Mhz >_<, gonna upgrade it)

my vid card seems to be the sweet spot...everyone is always complaining about how crappy the game runs on their system with their top of the line 7xxx series cards. Myself and everyone else with this card havent had any problems as i've seen so far.

you could upgrade to these specs for fairly cheap, but i'd suggest going for a 256mb version of the 6600GT as i do chunk a little bit as textures are being loaded into my vid ram.

Its just my graphics card thats letting me down really, although more ram wouldnt hurt.

I think im gonna just get the cheapest compatible ram and supported g-card then start planning getting a 2nd comp.

i'm assuming your agp, so i'd suggest a 6600GT or a 6800GS (if u have a lil more cash)

If i were to get a PCIe g-card i would need a PCIe motherboard too correct?

If not then ill go for a pcie card, if not then ill stick to agp for this comp.

Woohoo 100 hours now.

Got a problem though - I think my disc is fucked, every time I try to talk to a certain quest frog it freezes.
