I have a lvl 46 Smiter,
and he currently has about 900 life and 10,5 k defense.

Gonna get him nightmare and hellrushed soon.

But for charms, what should I look for?
defense/life or offensive skillers with life?

Don't say pala combats with life plz:) Can't afford those.

When you get your charms, Ill duel you with mine - if your in East-NL.
I havent found any "under 50" smiter that can beat mine yet.
If you can't get pcombats with life, then go with plain combats or combats with anything on them. Then go with 10x 20 lifers.
I have 10x pcombats, all of them have additonal mods. Mostly life, but a couple with fhr or strength. most of my small charms are 20 lifers. Have a couple with addtional resist. I also went with like 17-19 life if they had resist on them - a fair trade off I think.

Well I have 50% DR, and 90% resist all depending on wich setup.
Stacked about 50 deep on normal.
Sometimes 95% light/fire resist to.
75% Block in both setups.
I reach the 86% fhr bp with only 1x 5%fhr sc.

I do precast my HS with +3 pala combat gear, wich helps a lot and is pretty cheap to do. And unfortunatly, I'm on Europe.

Yeah I know that, for such situations, I have a 4x Ptopaz/Saphire 45% base resist shield in my stash, though I mostly never need those. Though that 205% resist to a single element is surely nice. Thawing potion helps to:) Though I don't know it's BM or not? It is a potion, but it does no harm I think, it's like Enchanting or prebuffing Fade with Treachery imo.
I also have a 2-3 30% cold/light resist gc's in my stash. But uptill now, I have never had to use them.

When I had my high lvl smiter I was able to kill a wide variety of duelers without much gear change. If you can get the 20/res charms then you won't need much gear changes and you'll have the high life that all smiters need.
