LLD Blizard Sorc Guide |
|
This guide is for a Legit lld101 bliz sorc (non-hell rushed, no teleport), with 2 variations and equipment.
A level 1 sorceress has the following stats:
Strength: 10
Dexterity: 25
Vitality: 10
Energy: 35
Hit Points: 40
Stamina: 74
Mana: 35
Each level you will receive:
Life +1
Stamina +1
Mana +2
And For each stat Point spent:
1 Vitality point gives 2 Life
1 Vitality point gives 1 Stamina
1 Energy point gives 2 Mana
Giving that lld Bliz sorceresses are level 30, with no items, stat or skill points spent u will have the following stats;
Life: 69
Mana: 93
29 unused stat points
145 unused stat points
Rushing your sorceress with quest 1 in act 1, quest 1 in act 2, quests 1 and 4 in act 3, quest 2 in act 4 and quest 3 in act 5 will give u the following stats;
Life: 89
Mana: 93
33 unused stat points
150 unused stat points
10% resist all
This is the standard equipment that a Bliz sorc would use; variations are listed specifically for each build.
Helm: Peasant Crown
Amour: Skin of the Vipermagi
Boots: Sander's Riprap
Gloves: Magefist
Rings 2x soj
Amulet: The eye of elitch
Weapon: depends weather you are ladder or non-ladder, Ladder would use spirit, Non-ladder would Have to use an orb with ideal stats:
1-2 cold skills
1-3 blizzard
1-3 cold mastery (not necessary but will make u ALOT better)
20% faster cast rate
Socketed 1-2
Possible life/mana/resists
Belt: Crafted Caster belt, these are made by transmuting a magic Light belt, ith rune, perfect Amethyst and any jewel, they have fixed stats of:
5-10% Faster Cast Rate
Regenerate Mana (4-10)%
+ (10-20) To Mana
There is also a chance to get a second, third or forth mod on these belts for info go here:
http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/crafteditems.shtml
Shield: Visceratuant, or rhyme (runeword, sheal-eth)
The Stats of both these shield are:
Visceratuant:
+100-150% Enhanced Defense (varies)
30% Increased Chance of Blocking
30% Faster Block Rate
+1 To Sorceress Skill Levels
Attacker Takes Lightning Damage of 10
(If socket with a Perfect Diamond it also has +18% resist all)
Rhyme:
20% Increased Chance of Blocking
40% Faster Block Rate
All Resistances +25
Regenerate Mana 15%
Cannot Be Frozen
50% Extra Gold from Monsters
25% Better Chance Of Getting Magic Items
As u can see rhyme has more resists, Mana regeneration and most importantly cannot be frozen as it can be a critical factor of how quickly u can move from underneath someone else's Blizzard.
The main thing Visceratuant has going for it is 1 to all skills which will give u approximately 100 extra blizzard damage.
Weapon Switch:
Ladder: Insight runeword (ral-tir-tal-sol) made from a staff with 1-3 energy shield and ideally 1-3 shiver armour.
Non-Ladder: Sorceress orb with 1-3 energy shield and ideally 1-3 shiver armour, with a Visceratuant shield for the extra skill point.
Using these figures and equipment there are 2 main types of blizzard sorceresses u can make:
Type 1-Mana Build.
This Build is designed for having the maximum amount of mana and using energy shield as a indirect way of increasing your life.
Equipment variation: Instead of using magefists for gloves it is ideal to use frostburn for the 40% increase in mana.
Stats:
Strength 60 - to use frostburn
Dexterity- 25
Vitality- 10
Energy- 135
Skills
Ice bolt- 2
Ice Blast- 20
Frost nova-1
Glacial spike-1
Blizzard - 7
Cold mastery - 1
Warmth- 1
With all gear on you will have the following Skills;
Ice bolt- 10
Ice Blast- 28
Frost nova-9
Glacial spike-9
Blizzard - 15
Cold mastery - 8
Warmth- 8
Giving you;
With Visceratuant :
Ice Blast damage: 796-826
Blizzard Damage: 774-868
Mana regeneration: 102%
Resist all: 64%
With rhyme:
Ice Blast damage: 748-777
Blizzard Damage: 709-801
Mana regeneration: 105%
Resist all: 70%
For both shield options:
Life- 153
Mana- 823
Energy Shield- 45-57% (depending on equipment)
Also the Following Frame Rates (how quickly u perform certain actions the lower the number the faster)
Faster Cast Rate- 9 (63%)
Faster hit recovery- 9 (42%)
Possible variations, add-on's to improve this build:
By socketing your Peasant Crown with a sheal and getting 2x 5% fhr small charms u can get Frame 7 (86%) fhr.
Packing your inventory with 15 life small charms, doing this (taking away the 2 fhr ones) will give u an additional 570 life. The ultimate version of these is 15 life/12 mana (if u get 38 of these I will have to kill u.)
Remember also that the enemy?s Cold mastery reduces your resistances a lot (between 60 and 85%, depending on gear). So ideally u are going to need 160% cold resist in order to have 75% resist after cold mastery is applied. This can be achieved by getting 15 life/9% cold resist small charms and also having 5% resist all on your fhr small charms.
Max Block- This depends on weather or not u will be a pub dueler and be dueling melee, ranged attacks that can be blocked or a caster dueler meaning it won't be required. Achieving max block With Visceratuant requires 90 dexterity, so 80 with sanders boots. By doing this u will sacrifice ALOT of mana (209).
Another way of boosting your resists is to socket your vipermagi with a 15% resist all jewel.
Ideal equipment:
Circlet:
+2 to cold skills
20% faster cast rate
15% resist all
30% faster run/walk
+ To dexterity/strength
Life/mana stats
1-2 sockets
Amulet:
+2 to cold skills
10% faster cast rate
15% resist all
+ To dexterity/strength
Life/mana stats
Type 2-Life Build.
Very similar to the mana build except:
You use magefists instead of frostburn
Extra points (after u have finished with dexterity/strength), go into life giving you (with no charms);
Life- 353
Mana- 357
You don't use energy shield, as u will have no mana as soon as u get hit.
Item/charm improvements are much the same excepting this build will probably be more effective on the cheaper scale.
I think that?s everything i.e. Tell me what I have missed.

Why sander's over cow kings?
riprap only adds 15 stats, and the ar is unnecessary.

As well, you will NOT be able to get 24%fhr, life, resist, AND str (dex doesn't spawn on belts) and have the level req to be 30 or under. If you craft a light belt and get 24% fhr, the level req will be 25. Crafting near-perfect lld items requires a boatload of luck.

Had to reply to this since the guide was made a LONG time ago...
Sorc FHR table:
20 = 11
30 = 10
42 = 9
60 = 8
86 = 7 <--- Shoot for this one
142 = 6
Sorc FCR table:
9 = 12
20 = 11
37 = 10
63 = 9
105 = 8 <--- Get this!
200 = 7
Gear for new "updated" build:
Helm:
Pcrown = starter
2cold/20fcr = ideal
Jewelry:
Etlich or Beads = starter
2cold/stat/life/mana = ideal (u only need fcr if u switch gear around)
SOJ's x 2
Boots: I chose 30frw/10fhr/stat rares to hit the fhr bp. If u like stats more then go with sanders
Gloves: Magefists IMO. If u use es use frosties...but mages are pretty standard IMO.
Belt: I chose 24fhr/str/life rare belt. You won't need fcr unless u use an unusual weapon.
Armor: Viper...no question
Shield: Visceraunt... pretty much no questions here...good blocking and 1 skill...can't beat it.
weapon: 35fcr spirit crystal sword... hard to beat this wep!!!
Reason I didnt suggest Rhyme is because your mana regen will be 170% +++ depending on your gear so visceraunt is enuf blocking. Keep rhyme if u need res... but u could also use double stat charms to boost res.
this set up gives u: 105% fcr, 89% fhr and gives you around 1k damage! I chose to pskull helm and armor to boost my regen...up to you to use prubies or not.
Stat jewels are kind of a waste IMO... sorc gets 2 life and 2 mana per stat so a godly 16 stat jewel would only add 32 life or 32 mana. That makes pruby or psapp better to use Sucks huh?
If you use a wand instead of spirit then stat jools would be nice...but, spirit pwns! an extra 3 skills on your blizz will only add around 150 dmg vs all the goodies that spirit give (mana, sorb, fcr, skills, fhr)
Switch: Insight with your favorite cold armor. Es sucks... use at your own risk. Perfect switch would be +tele/+cold armor although I'm not sure if +tele spawns on a white staff...if it does... don't use in arena... but ull need for pubbies.
HOPE THIS HELPS anyone with updated stuff...easy build and very effective!

Res isn't really that big of a problem...maybe cuz I have res all on my helm + viper res + nice res on my boots (another reason I chose them). Rares give good res sometimes so rather than socketing for res be different and use rares. My belt isn't godly but works for now till I find better...here are my rares so you can see what I mean:
