What do you think my job is, numbnuts? I have exactly two responsibilities here: 1. Make sure the rules are followed 2. Maintain the best interests of the site It's #2 that's at issue here. You seem to be too young or too ignorant to understand how easily lawsuits can take a site offline. Did you see an "18 or older age verification" link prior to logging on here? No, you didn't, huh? That means that ANYONE of ANY age can join this site. D2 may be 17 or older, but the truth is we are not; not because we choose to be "all ages", but because the reality is that we really don't need to enforce age minimums for this place. And even if the probability of some angry parent bringing a lawsuit against us is slim to none, the fact is that as one of two people responsible for this site (and Zharous' investment, if you will), I need to be proactive about such things. At the end of the day this is very uncomplicated, Grim. I tell you not to post internet porn memes here, and you do what I tell you. End 'o fucking discussion. You wanna bitch about free speech restrictions, or oppressive moderation, or me being a meanie doo-doo head, then either take it to PMs, or take it off the site. Either way, shut up and drop it. _________________

We're not posting direct links, people are free to google what they want. If we make an off the cuff remark about some old internet meme, then it's their choice to either look it up or not. If a parent complains about porn references and the what-not, that's their problem for not taking an active role in what they view online. It's not our fault that the people under the age of 18 are googling whatever we type. Heaven forbid someone mentions sex, or else we could get taken offline. Again Dao, there's no reason to try to be the step-mother no one wanted. This discussion shouldn't be taken to PMs, because it's a site related issue... not an issue dealing between individuals. |

What's your fascination with this? Do you REALLY have to discuss perverse internet porn on lld101.com? Is this really the best forum for that sort of conversation? Let me educate you, Grim, since you seem unable to understand the difference between "freedoms", and "laws". You don't have the right to drive 100mph down a 25mph street. Is that an infringement on your civil liberties or freedoms? No. The state has decided that it is in the interest of the common good that you only drive 25mph on that street; hence, you cannot drive more than 25mph without getting a ticket. Likewise, you cannot go on television and say "I once saw Mike Huckabee eat a live baby, and it was during a Satanic ritual that is part of his devil worship". That would be slander, and you can be sued for it. So, now that we've established that not everything you personally want to do is a freedom, let me offer you one last point - one that I feel obligated to bring up every time someone throws a hissy-fit here: LLD101.com is not a democracy. It is a privately owned entity, and you only have those rights here which we grant you. There can be no censorship, because your membership here is a tacit acknowledgement that you agree to follow every rule we set forth, and there is also an understanding that the privilege of posting here can be revoked at any time, for any reason. For the record, I'm stating the obvious here, and this is equally true on Baron's Bazaar, d2jsp, GameFAQs, CC-Comp, and every other website on the entire internet. The difference between us and some of them is that I try to explain this to you, whereas most other websites would just ban your ass and move on. Try posting horse porn on GameFAQs, and see how fast you get banned from that site. Try going to Bioware's Mass Effect website and posting half the shit you get away with here, and see how long it flies. Hell the names of most of those internet memes are automatically flagged on GameFAQs for moderation, so even using them in a sentence can get you in trouble. _________________

i <3 this debate, 1st amendment arguments rock <cracks knuckles> Grim; freedom of speech does not mean we are all free to freely exhibit. the individuals in these videos are performing an exhibition, not expression. you would need peer reviewed conceptional integrity and a definable interpretation for it to be shown as legitimate expression. (either case, it is of adult nature though and not allowed here). these performances of adult material, soft or shocking, are therefore mostly service (parts and labor) for free. Prostitution in its intent therefore a commodity, not information at all. your free to argue it IS art, but without infrastructure to gain credibility and legitimization, the argument alone without some documentation by the performers, and without some formal presentation, does not qualify the exhibit as expression. besides left to your own interpretation is just 1 persons word against another, and not a consensus,, you would be hard pressed to find enough momentum to gain universal agreement. an exhibition of this regard is not speech. referencing this non-speech is therefore partially, (but not exclusively) facilitation of that exhibition. Because it is traceable in its specificity it is incumbent of lld101 members NOT to corrupt a minor with reasonably strong inferences/references/keywords to specific exhibitions. saying donkey butt love,, is free speech. providing a keyword to gain access to an exact exhibition of donkey butt love for viewing, is not. Innocence of intent is hard to prove therefore would also be insubstantial so here are some legal tidbits i see so far. Grim; your freedom is preserved bc you have the freedom (for now) to debate. Dao. the rules of the forum altered last week without warning. Grim(and everyone); ignorance of rule/law would not grant immunity of guilt. This is exactly the point. You'll note, for example, that I didn't say anything when Jerkazoid posted about pictures of "getting blasted by horses" at his workplace. It was skimming the edge, but no liability or issue on our part. As to the subject of "guilt", it's a moot point. There's no retroactive punishment here. I just ask that, going forward, people be a little smarter about what they post in a forum that is potentially accessible to kids. _________________
