shadow wasn't all that. banding is greater than shadow, hands down. let's see, i'm going to block x creatures with 2, and i'll only lose 1? yeah, bad idea there, isn't it?

you just don't grasp the finesse involved in playing with banding.

of course, you had to play something like pre-97/98 or so to even get any banding :/

Swampking has no uses IMO.

no, i'm just voicing a very strong opinion. unless you were playing pre-97ish, you probably don't have any real understanding of the benefits of banding. the banding ability allowed for efficient asset management.

i haven't actively played magic in about 4 or 5 years now, so i'm just out of the loop, most likely. i'm sure there have been cards released since invasion block that would make sol'kanar obsolete now. but, in earlier days, a 5/5 swampwalker for 5 wasn't bad. 3, 4, and 5 color decks weren't hard to play with dual and pain lands.

and sorceress queen + sengir vampire? ...you're trolling now, right? i'm sorry, but i honestly don't see how this is efficient. with the banning of dark rit, it would take 3-4 turns to be able to cast vamp. against a suicide black or white weenie build, you're already at half life and losing more every turn. any combo type build would have some sort of control available by that point in the game to keep one or both of those from ever becoming a threat.

maybe i'm just outdated...

Trust me, I played before 97. Im a Vintage person.

and why sorceress queen+sengir vampire, couse I can add a norrit and kill just about 99% of the creatures in the game.

You also have to take into effect that I built decks for casual play and "SMALL" turneys. And when you combine that with counterspells, force of wills and terrors its not that hard to keep most decks running just to get something out.

hi guys, i ve been playing magic since 95, i have older cards too that my cousins gave me, now i have bought more. I have a white/red/blac revised deck. It kicks ass. I have a question though, what is your favorite newer set? I personally liked the Ravnica block. I enjoyed playing an orzhov deck. And never, i am going to the next pre release as well.
