Ok so i had a bit of a thought when i was playing on my lvl 9 leap barb ( yes we all have dumb chars) and i thought what about a leap attack barb and it might be effective to duel competitive?

wep- either 6 soc pic 5 15 maxers and 1 nef rune for knockback, or clegs with nef.

armour- twitch 15 maxed, stealth in stash if frw needed, eth ancient armour w/ massive defence?

helm- +shout and + leap or + leap attack soc with maxers

boots- ck or gorefoot

jewelry- angelics no other option

belt - deaths

gloves - b fist or deaths

shield- im gunna say swordback just for 50 ow

now y i think this char would work in melee well leap easy knockback but leap attack will do dmg and with that nef rune well knock em back and then u can use regular leap to get away while pushing them back and u can just repeat process. only prob is max block miss your main attack and duel could be over?

could vs casters well leap attack can leap pretty far across the screen so u would avoid alot of missles but if u land in a spot where 10 are about to hit u uh oh. Crying or Very sad

frw u may need a ton of frw depending on your opponent so u just run away and leap attack them ...could make for a long duel

i dont see any major flaws to a leap attack barb any thoughts on gear??

I have a couple reasons why this build wasn't so great for me.
#1. Leap Attack misses whenever someone moves a little.
#2. Can get hit while you're in midair by skills like Zeal.

A 1-Handed Throw/Leap Barb seemed more viable to me after I made myself one of these.

The secret to leap attack is to use a range 5 wep. A military pick has a range of 2 i think, so you basically will not hit anybody that moves even a little bit. With a range 5 wep you can use a combo of leap/leap attack and the oppopnent will still be within your range, but then of course you'll have no shield Confused

I was dueling one the other day with my Bladesin he was using a Robo Pike there was something like 160 max damage on it.He missed an awaful lot but because he was in the air so much I couldn't hit much either but his damage was so deadly he only had to hit 1-2 times.I did see him get owned by a zealer though(all 18s by the way).

I've played with leap attack barbs before. IIRC yes you can get hit while in the air but if you have a shield you can still block.

Fighting casters is difficult, they normally just walk out of the way if you have to leap very far, or anyone will for that matter. So don't leap unless you are a few steps away already.

Mana can be a problem.

The key to leap attack is holding down the alt button when fighting. If its one on one you will continually leap attack the closest target while using the shortest possible jump. Just watch out for them coinz and earz.

Its not a bad idea to learn conc too.

I never did try a range 5 weapon though.
