Poll - Cleric/Healer? Subject description: In the possible absence of pots |

Would a Cleric...
-Be too similar to an MMO
-Be a sucky replacement for potions
-Take a valuable spot in character classes because there are only 5
or...
-Be a good addition
-Add a new element of gameplay
-Make partied games more involved with the well-being of other players
etc.
Discuss.

bad. they wont make a cleric. d3 is made to be able to be played solo, and i highly doubt they would make a class whose only role is to heal and has weak combat abilities.

I really hope they introduce healing pots.....why take them out? They're a classic item from the diablo franchise

New people made it, most games have health pots, I don't see why Diablo III would be any different. If there is any type of cleric though, I'm definitely making one.

ahh... cleric always reminds me about one of the best games i have ever played on comp...
this was such an awesome game, it had class "cleric" he had heal as his 1lvl skill and later on he was able to summon skeletons and ghosts from the bodies of slain enemies <3
so if the cleric would be like that, then i guess cleric it would be nice ;)
oh yeah! cleric didnt really have any "melee" hit(or he did but it didnt do a thing!) instead of hitting with his longstaff(or w/e weapon he used, some sort of staff) he casted magical protection squares or something :p
or maybe it would be just too overpowered.. D:<

I for one think it would be a terrible thing. The absolute mandated NEED for a cleric and a "tank" for every successful party in a MMO while ranged did most of the dmg was probably the thing I find most annoying about those games....
I want to be able to solo, or do a pickup run with anyone of any class and be successful if we play it well. Thats just not an option in MMO's. (I also just don't like the big groups. Give me the option of 1-10 people and i'll norm never play with more than 4 unless dueling.)

Having clerics would turn Diablo PvP from a 1v1 sustem to a required team or Guild PvP system. Anyone without a healer would lose and the healer would be there for the sole purpose of healing (unless you do like Conan where the healers own all)
I think part of the charm of Diablo was the fact that virtually every class could field a successful build that could compete 1v1 against everyone. Now days they think it has to be a rock-paper-scissors system where you some classes always dominate some but lose to others.
My opinion: Diablo needs to stay away from healer classes per se. Those that give buffs to others in their group are close enough.

i agree with you rampage, but for different reasons. i was thinking more for reasons of solo pvm. i dont think they would make a character that cant hold its own in pvm. notice the "healing" char in D2 was the paladin, who only had a couple auras and holy bolt, and the rest was offense. i wouldnt be surprised to see a char that has a few healing spells, but not a char completely based around healing

I'm just going to mention a quick opinion of mine, but to me,it would be nice if each class had one or two healing type skills hopefully unique to each class that heal in a different way. This is just a quick thought f min, but it would have some way of implimenting healing into each build, allowing both solo or team play to have some sort of healing. Not like this would happen, its merely an opinion if they did do something.

Well all classes in d2 have a defensive spell, not necessarily healing, that makes it possible to solo already. They should capitalize on that idea.
