well to set the stage
i use a macbook and have to use diablo II carbon to run d2
sometimes when i log onto bnet it gets stuck on checking versions just constantly does the ......
then when i hit cancel it freezes and the only way to get out is to hold down power button and restart

any help would be great!

i get the same thing, you have to force quit.

cmd + option + esc

instead of prompting you with the force quit menu, the screen will flash and d2 will quit automatically. repeat until it goes past the version check.

this only helps by letting you not have to restart between each try btw.
