i cant agree... that may be true between usmc and army, or army and navy etc... simply because all are in dire need of numbers.. on the opposite hand, the af is the only branch doing what is known as force shaping (cutting down) they wont care to contend to much.. unless you scored a 90+ on yur asvab (or find a recruiter desperate of his quota[dangerous situation]), on top of that, there is a waiting list + the af has highest standards of the 5...

Yeah.. cking various websights I see that the AF is getting much smaller..on the other hand the Navy is increasing at the rate of about 5% Per Year..Alot of new nuclear subs, aircraft super carriers and aegis cruisers on the drawing board for the next 25 years..Plus 2 new tatical jet fighters and a new sub hunter killer jet..(The F-14 Tomcats are retired now)..

Today I am going with my stepfather to talk to some recruiting officers, having a retired E6 standing over my shoulder might help me get what I want

I actually knew two guys named Dustin Officer and Jerry Petty, and they had served together in the Navy, rising to the rank of Petty Officer (3rd and 2nd class, respectively). So when they were called for muster, their OIC got to call out "Petty Officer Officer! Petty Officer Petty!" True story. I always wondered what kind of last name "Officer" was. (I think he said it was a mangling of his family's original German name or something.)

i've seen some wild last names.. 3 of them that stickout...
Maj. Major
Lt. Dan
Capt. Plannit
but going to the recruiter with a miltary member is probly the best for you, i was with-- my fiance's dad, a retired SMSgt (e- , my moms boyfriend, a retired Maj. (o-4) and a civilian gs-14 (my uncle), over the course of my enlistment process
i've heard stories of general jumper (o-10) going to recruiting stations and helping people out

I have a coast guard friend who knew of a Seaman Cummings.
If I make it in/make it through grad school, I'll be Doctor Storm. It's pretty much my sole motivation for wanting to go.. so that I can have a sweet super-villain name.
