Looking for a team-based single player shooter Subject description: For PC or Gamecube |
|
I'm wondering...
Are there any good counter-strike-like PC or gamecube games out there, but with a really good single player aspect?
I was playing counter-strike on xbox today by myself, and I really liked the whole team aspect of the game (as I typically don't like first-person shooters, but I really enjoy the team-based concept), and I was wondering if there is anything like that available right now on PC or gamecube? I really don't feel like getting addicted to another multiplayer game online. I just want something I can play under controlled circumstances.
I know there's CS:CZ, but are there any others?

I think you would like something like rainbow 6.
Single player and even more team based than CS. You can actually tell your team where to go, and if you want to spend the time planning it, you can even plan thier moves before you even start the game.

Goldeneye for gamecube is a short game but good fps... Turok evolution is a decent fps for gamecube as well
Also, counterstrike's origional game, 1.6, is what a lot of people play on PC

Rainbow 6: 3 does sound interesting...is it readily available in computer stores? Because amazon only has it from private sellers.
I might just take the chance and get counterstrike and brave the addiction. I already have a copy of Half-Life, do I still need to go and buy counterstrike? Or what?

Ok, so if I go to the store tomorrow to pick up Counterstrike, which one should I be looking for?
Counter-strike...
Regular Counter-strike?
Source?
Anthology?
Condition Zero?
1.6 is regular counterstrike, just the most up-to-date version, is that right?
Condition Zero seems the most fun to me, since it has both single and multiplayer.
Which of the preceding games is the game that everyone plays when they say they play CS? Which one should I get?

Get source! same as 1.6, but looks SOO much better.
edit: also, when ppl talk about cs i assume they mean cs:source.
If you do want to try online, battlefield2 is much more team/objective based than cs.

One last question:
If my dad and I want to play CS with each other, do we need 2 copies of the game? Or can we install it on 2 puters with the same cd key and play online together, either by ourselves or with others? How does it work?

I think you would need seperate keys to play online. Halflife2/cs:source has a really strict multi user thing. You actually need the internet to be able to play it single player just so it can check you're not using a pirate version.
Im not sure if theres a patch out to stop this, but i presume by now there is.

Ok, well I went and bought CS: the anthology.
Can the game be installed on two different computers, just not played at the same time?
