Serious Bump revising Subject description: Read this before you vote. |
|
The bumping rule now as it stands is a standard 24 hour bump rule. The means if you bump at 7:00 a.m., you won't be able to bump again until it's 7:00 a.m. or later. People have different lives and this really isn't the best way to suit all of our schedules. How so, you ask? If you get off of work at 10:00 p.m. one night, and you bump at 10:05 p.m. You may come home the next night, tired and wanting sleep, and it being 9:30 p.m. But you can't bump it just yet!
My plan removes this burden.
Here is what I believe we should do:
1. Remove the 24-hour bump rule. (don't get angry just yet.)
2. Add a single bump per day rule.
To project further into the "one bump per day" rule. You may bump once per day. 12:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Within this time period you may be entitled to one single bump. So if you wish to bump at 11:00 p.m., you may also bump the following 1:00 a.m.
Our current rule, literally is insufficient.
My rule is more sufficient, and suits most schedules.
Discuss.

In other words, let's make the Trade Mods' lives even harder because you want an extra half hour of sleep/can't wait until the morning to bump your post.
You do realize that not everyone uses the same forum clock, right? So your 11 PM and 1 AM bump show up as an 8 PM and 10 PM bump on the West Coast.

No, you've got it all wrong.
Now, the mods, instead of looking at 6 different digits, you have to look only at the words. Such as, "YESTERDAY," "TODAY," "THURSDAY."
Quite simple, isn't it?

Not at all. I'll repeat so that you might actually pay attention:

Congrats, you just broke your own rule.

I thought the mods could see actual times by the user's clocks? You can't? Well than maybe we should implement something?
*Brainstorms*
A site modification? Someone will see it from my standpoint.

FYI, your suggestion isn't feasible. And from my own experience, I wouldn't want to see 8 different forum clocks when I'm reading through the Fire Pit.

Great idea - let's modify the site entirely to implement an unfeasible change to fix a rule that isn't broken.

I was just thinking about some other things people have said to me, about bumping 20 minutes early or having to go to work. Alright so *maybe* it isn't feasible. Just brainstorming. ^^ The more idea's we have the better off we are, are we not? I wish you would be supportive instead of bursting my bubble, and putting a hole in my ship. lol

I guess I don't understand why exactly it's so crucial to bump your post before going to work? The post will still be there when you get back in 8 hours.
The current bump rule works just fine -- it may not accomodate everyone's every desire, but show me a rule that does.

Man, just bump the next day... I usually wait until my threads are on the second page before i even consider bumping. Besides it takes a good 3-4 days before my thread reaches the bottom anyways...

There's no reason to change this bump system. It's not hard to bump by a certain time. If you want to go to bed early, and can't bump... don't bump. Wait until the next day, bump at 8pm, and then you can get all the sleep you want .

It's a good idea, but as rjg said, it would make the mods work more complicating.
