ok so after reading through this long post, I have a few things I'd like to contribute.

1. I dont think that the person your accusing fo stealing your account is guilty

2. You were not hacked through lld101, if it was possible for a somone to hack the password file I think people would have noticed failed logins on BNet, especialy the more wealthy players.

3. It wasn't bruted because that would take a ton of time, and somone with a good BNet bruteing program they would most likely go after somone other than you.

4. If you didnt get trojan/keylog then my guess is that somone watched you type in your password. Using numbers actualy makes it easyer to guess after watching somone type it in. I got the password to the network rounter by watching it be typed in a few times, it was 8qc2b91, because the fingers move up dramaticaly its easy to figure out the numbers and then guess the letters. If you were with anyone the last few times you logged into LLD101 or Bnet, I would say they would be the primary suspects.

my two cents.

I heard that brute force can crack password without SPECIAL character in about 5 minutes.

Which is probably why B.Net will disable your account if you have too many failed logins within a given period of time.

b[x] wat are u talking about?

Bruteforce cracks password hashes... it does NOT try to log in and out...
U provide brute force with hashes and it breaks them, no more. The questions is how to did the hacker get those hashes.

When bruteforce breaks the password it provides the password. The hacker doesnt have to try logging in, since he already knows wat the password is.

Just search Google, to find out more info.

Please forgive B[x], a trustworthy person, for not knowing the exact mechanics of account-stealing hacks. Thanks for the lecture on how moronic us honest folk are when it comes to hacks though.

Yeah... having recently had my account broken into as well, it seems that the thefts are becoming more prevalent. Certainly, my account was barely being used (not at all by me, and only occasionally by Ehhh), and neither of us used third party programs. Likewise, I did not share my password with anyone other than Ehhh.

What I think is interesting is that it seems to be happening to quite a few people on here. Could someone have installed some sort of malicious code or backdoor that allows them to see passwords, or possibly PM's? My password was different that my password here, but I did PM Ehhh with my b.net password through this site.

I guess I'm just another failure in the "natural selection" march of progress, 'eh Knarl? Or maybe I fell victim to D2's equivalent of subintelocide. Yeah, clearly I am a noob who doesn't deserve the fruits of an account he's used for six years. Lol @ me. Confused

Alright here's my point of view...

I recently lost my account because of unknown reasons;

Make sure your account name has letters and numbers, and isn't in the dictionary or in ANY foreign languages.

If someone gets hacked and is asking for free, don't give them anything worth 2 cents unless you know them, or your ready to get ripped.

And. . . don't share your account with anyone, unless your having sex with them.

Again, thanks to everyone who helped me!

If you see your name below, message me /m *Vanished

easy for u to say because u know it. its like saying english is easy to a person who does not speak or know it. (ok, that was bad, let me try again)

like saying d2 is easy to a complete newbie who just got it

just to throw myself in here. came back from a weekend break to find 6 of my 7 accounts hacked/bruted whatever. i was able to pass recover 3 of them (2 east NL and 1 west L HC) of the ones i recovered, my characters were stripped completely. on my hc account all my characters were killed (all lvl 70+)

i have NEVER used any 3rd party programs, no one knows my passwords, my email, forum, and game passwords are all different. hell even my accounts have their own unique passwords with all type of characters

so as of now. im done with d2. my remaining gear will be traded off at jsp

so this will be my last post here. its been fun, good site with good people.

so i will end this as one of my good friends ends his posts.

Peace and Blessings

Adam
