MF Sorc? |
|
Well I'm "Kinda" back to D2, but as a lot of you know, I haven't played in .10 hardly at all and all but my LLD accounts got deleted. What are good MF sorc skills for this patch?
Or should I use a barb/other class for an MF char? Sorry for the newb questions

No problem for the "noob" questions, lol. IMO the best sorce for mf, would probably be a blizzard sorce, because of the high dmg.

Aye, best fire sorce on the East . You may have extremely high dmg, but how much mf? Theres my point, lol.

meteor is ok, if your target doesnt move. gets annoying when they do, and your meteor doesnt hit, repeatedly. i like the suggestion of blizzard sorc. decent enough dmg (4-5k), hits multiple times, wide area of coverage.
another thing you may want to consider before choosing a build. what monsters are you going to mf? hell meph? diablo? baal? etc. some are more resistant to a certain element than others. so maybe research at arreat, for the resistances, and then choose the best build for it. ie: dont make a cold sorc to mf eldrich/shenk. they are both usually cold immune, and sometimes fire immune too.

An old personal favorite of mine is the frozen orb sorc.
Voices hit the nail on the head, if you are going to be doing lets say Pit runs, then I wouldn't make a cold sorc because it seems like 55% of the enemies are cold imune. If you are going to be doing Ancient Tunnel runs though, I would make a bliz sorc because MOST of the time there are no cold imunes... every now and then one will pop up

Well, I'm thinking that I'll mainly be doing act bosses (Andy for VLLD items, Meph and Baal. Maybe Diablo every now and then. And I can make her a dual tree sorc that's not a problem. So the best for cold is blizzard, best for fire is? Best for lightning is CL? See I have no idea how monsters are in .10 and what they are usually resistant to. Seems like most of you like blizz so I'll probably do that. Now, should I go fire or lightning for my back-up (besides static of course.)

for fire, i would do meteor/fireball. cast meteor, then blast with fireball while the meteor lands. for cold, id do blizzard/ice blast. same deal as the fire sorc, cast and blast. for lightning, you could try chain lightning. assuming you use occy/lidless/soj*2/shako/+2amulet/skulders you could get 13-6004 dmg with maxed mastry/chain lightning/nova/lightning. but that doesnt leave you many skills for eshield/telekenisis/warmth/teleport.
also, if i were you, id put every stat point i had, aside from those needed for strength and dex, into mana. then, max out telekenisis and put 1 point into eshield. doing this will make your eshield far more effective than maxing out eshield, as it makes you take a fraction of the damage, rather than the whole bit. but you need to have a big mana pool, and you need to have good warmth to regenerate it.
i think your best bet, would be making a blizz sorc, with a nova backup.
this is the skill layout i would use.
7 ice bolt
20 ice blast
1 glacial spike
1 ice nova
20 blizzard
1 frozen armor
20 ice mastry
1 warmth
1 static
1nova
20 telekenisis
1 teleport
1 eshield
1 light mastry
that puts you at level 85 with all skill quest from normal to hell, totalling 96 points. with this skill placement, and using the gear i mentoned above, you should have the follow stats.
2844-2988 skill level 31 blizzard
1794-1854 skill level 31 ice blast
-170% cold resist skill level 31 cold mastry
200-315 skill level 12 nova
174% mana regen skill level 13 warmth.
as for monster resistances, and other stats.
http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/monsters/super.shtml
just goto the act that you want to find out about, and scroll down. the ones with listed stats will have a "?" beside them, click that and youll get all the info you need.

Rebs, edit: WAS best pvp hld sorc on east. not ne more..
and i would definately agree with voices on the mf thing, but blizz would probably be best because of such a huge range of are on it. or if you could get a magic attacker and get your hands on an enigma, it would make it much easier.
ex. bone nec, or wind druid.

I prefer a cl/lighting sorc. She's good for cow farming because the king's always lightning immune, and she can do shenk/eldrich/pindle pretty easily too, as well as pit runs. Dunno about act bosses though, is meph li in hell?
